This book is beautifully crafted and crammed full of exquisite details and perfectly honed characters, she has this nailed!
Bound by his desire is Nick’s story, and it had all the hallmarks of being an entertaining ride.
Nick lives by his own rules, determined by events that have shaped him into the man he is today.
He has no desire to enter into any form of relationship and has little regard for the notion of ever falling in love.
Shame he has that attitude because he is the kind of man that attracts attention, he is the whole package and that package is a very appealing proposal.
But burnt fingers mean that he is on a quest to find a new assistant, one that finally gets with the program and accepts that he has no intention of ever being anything other than their employer.
Laying all his cards on the table, he offers the role to Pamela, Jasmine’s assistant and to be honest Pamela has enough on her plate, falling for Nick is not even on her radar.
Pamela and Nick are both great characters, they have great inner strength and fortitude, both have history that refuses to just lie down and go away but they have the wherewithal to work through it.
Professionally Pamela is the girl for Nick she has his requirements banged to rights; she is empathetic and caring, efficient and dedicated and absolutely guaranteed not to fall for him.
This couple have a connection that they would be foolish to ignore but time and tide waits for no man, can they see past their pasts and find a future. Can Nick see that losing Pamela will be the biggest mistake of his life?Read more ›
I will start by saying that, in my opinion, this book was better than the first. That’s not to say that the first one wasn’t good, because that’s simply not the case at all (as you will see from my review), but for some reason, I found these characters more engaging.
As I was reading the book, and the relationship between Nick and Pam developed, I found myself with a twinge of anticipatory butterflies for the two of them. If I had been reading whilst stood at a bus stop, the tenderness of their connection might (I’m not admitting anything) have resulted in some knee muscle weakness, requiring me to sit down.
Ultimately, this book caused my heart to beat a little faster. And that’s got to be a good thing.

Pamela is everything he needs in a professional colleague and best of all she comes with an ironclad guarantee, she absolutely will not fall in love with him.
So it's a win, win deal because all Pamela has on her mind is sorting through the endless mountain of medical expenses incurred through her mother's care. So falling in love with her sexy new boss and jeopardizing her new income is totally off the table!
But New York is a very romantic place and soon Pamela and Nick find themselves spending more and more time together in the city that never sleeps, hey stop sleeping and start fantasizing . Soon hotter than hot nights take over and Nick comes to a stand still, does he break his own rule to snare the woman of his dreams or does he simply let her walk away?
I totally heart this author and it's because of books like this one that she will always remain on my auto buy list. The read was super sexy and Nick is definitely by far the best book boyfriend ever! I wanted to strangle him, kiss him senseless, kill him and kill anyone that goes near him, yep I experienced all those crazy book emotions that let's those who do not read, think you are a complete maniac!
Pamela was such a stunningly written character that she totally blew me away, yes she's a bit of the normal lonely, sad, in desperate need of help but too hardworking and proud to ask for it kind of heroine but with a twist. The author let her still be all of the above but with such a strong inner light that you want to help her or you wish someone would help her but at the same time you don't want to because it would dim her light of confidence. It was truly remarkable to read about.
I am taking away a message of life does hurt, be it a former fling that only saw you as a dollar sign or be it a past that has resulted in you struggling to reach the top again, no matter there is always hurt. But when the chance to heal comes along it is of the most utter importance to grab hold of it and not let the past hold you back, because once walks out the door it ain't never coming back.
I highly recommend this read for all fans of romance, it's sweet, hot, spicy, super sexy and will leave such an impression on you that you will not be able to wait to step back into the brilliant world this author creates , time and time again!

" Bound by desire, sealed by destiny"
** Copy provided in exchange for a honest review
Now we move on to Nick’s story in Bound By His Desire. Nick has a past that has him saying no relationships, no love, no attachments for his future. He wants an assistant that isn’t in it to try to woo him into marriage. His last assistant left a bit to be desired.
Enter Pamela. He met her at Luciano and Jasmine’s wedding (where we enter the book at). He has been friends with Luciano for a while and Pamela was Jasmine’s assistant. Even at that early stage there was chemistry between these two and I don’t know how Nick thought he was going to resist Pamela even when she wasn’t trying to become his better half.
Pamela has to decide whether to take Nick’s job offer which he put on the table along with his no relationships rule. No trying to tie him down. No trying to get him to fall for her, etc.
And so the story goes.
I loved Bound By His Desire as much as I loved Bound By Her Ring. Pamela is a such a wonderful character! She is hard working (absolutely perfect for the position of Nick’s assistant), caring, loyal, and she has enough on her plate to deal with right now without Nick playing any head games with her.
I say head games because that is what it would seem like as a woman in this situation, not as a reader who knows a bit of his background. If you understand where he has come from, you understand why he holds himself back from committing to a relationship. When we get to what really happened verses what he thought happened, my heart hurt for all the people involved. (That’s as close to a spoiler as I will get.)
This is just another amazing book in the Bound By series. A great woman, a man who has the potential to be a great man in a relationship, and pasts that they both have to work through whether mentally or physically. Plus we got to see characters that we fell in love with before. Let's also not look past the cover. I love the covers to this series!
I cannot wait until Jeffrey’s story! We got to meet him in this book and see how the friendship between these three men work, especially between Nick and Jeffrey.
Thank you so much for my copy of Bound By His Desire! I’m going to say it again, I loved it! 5 stars!
Nicole continues the Bound series by welcoming you to the wedding of Jasmine and Luciano. Nick is performing his best man duties by checking out the bridesmaid who he didn't recall meeting at last night's rehearsal dinner. This bridesmaid turns out to be none other than Jasmine's current assistant. Luciano is trying to get Nick to give her a chance as his assistant since she is wanting to leave her current position with the departure of Jasmine. A good assistant is hard to come by, and Pamela is just that.
One problem. Nick has encountered several assistants who used their womanly ways to sell him out or attempt to make him 'marriage material' and after the kiss he shared with her at the wedding this could be a problem. Apparently, he underestimated his attraction towards her, and continued to offer her the position.
"As he turned and walked away, Pamela wondered if he would look back and if he did, would it mean something, like everyone talked about in the movies. How if a guy looked back as he walked away, it meant he wanted her?
Her breath caught when Nick looked back over his shoulder and winked. "
The attraction between the two was instant, but both Nick and Pam are so focused on the task at hand (for incredibly different reasons, which will be revealed as the layers of their hidden pasts are revealed) - it becomes humorous to watch each fight the attraction. When Nick is fighting the attraction, but hears that Pam is out at a NY dance club, his protective side comes raging out.
"I've come to get you."
"You always spoil my fun," she shouted at him. "Why are you here?"
He smiled; feisty Pam was in the house. As he stared down into her face he lost himself in the green pools of her eyes. The sounds of the music thumping through the club faded out of his conscious hearing. He reached one hand out and gently cupped her cheek.
"I told you, 'I've come for you.'"
Or when Ethan shows interest in Pam, inviting her to go on a tour of New York City - Suddenly, Nick has a prior engagement that requires Pam's attendance.
"Enough, Pamela. You have a job to do and arguing with me is not part of it, even though you seem to enjoy that pastime. Trust me, everything will work out."
"Fine," she huffed. "But it the dress is hideous I'm not going."
When the feisty Pamela decides to allow her heart to open up to this man who does things to her that can only mean LOVE, he suddenly is all business. She sees his pain, even when he thinks he has done a great job at masking it.
"Because we both need this. We both need to forget."
"It will only be a bandaid. The problems will still be there tomorrow."
"I know, but I know we both need this. I don't know what's going to come tomorrow or the day after or the day after that. But what I do know is that I want to explore whatever is happening between us. Because there is something, Nick, and I know you feel it too."
The storylines underneath the HEA you are hoping for between Nick and Pam are full of friendship. You have Nick as Luc's Best Man. And when Jeff is thrown into the mix, you know him from Jasmine and Luc's story, but you learn that all three men went to school together and the friendship stands strong throughout the test of time. Jeff sees the pain in Nick's eyes and calls him out.
Offers a hilarious offer: "Do you want to go all girlie and talk about it?" This is what Nick needed. A swift kick to get him mind on straight. It was one thing to have Pam tell him he deserves love, or Luc & Jasmine who have found their happiness. When his seemingly lonely friend, Jeff unleashes this wisdom on him, he knows what he needs to do.
"Love makes you mess up." Jeff looked pointedly at him. "It makes you say and do things you wouldn't normally do if you were thinking unemotionally. Love also makes you able to acknowledge the f*** ups and fix them."
Finally, I love that Nicole went the route she did with this love story. Did Nick ultimately fix all of Pamela's problems? No. While she learned from him to ask for help, she relied on the help of her friends. Did Pamela fix the issues that Nick was dealing with? No. She offered her love and cared for him deeply, but he (also with the help of his friends) learned he could love, and it didn't have to be painful or tainted.
A few things I left with after finishing Bound By His Desire:
A strong desire to explore some of these places when I go to RWA in 2015 since it is in NYC! Maybe do a 'Bound By His Desire' mini-tour... wearing a Ninja shirt. ***IDEA***
I want to keep a journal of all the cool words I learn when reading. In this particular book, I picked up takeaway, trawling, and gauche.
While both characters have baggage, the author doesn't let them get all angsty and aggravating. However I did occasionally want to smack the hero and shout to him that he wasn't his father and to stop being such an ass. And, if you ask my vindictive side, Pam gives into Nick a little too early. But this is just because Ms. Flockton has a way of making you care about the characters. Her characters stay with you long after you've finished the story.
Seeing New York through the heroine's Australian eyes for the first time was like seeing it for the first time myself. Looking at iconic places and landmarks I've known my whole life and making them fresh and new again.
While characters from book one, Bound By Her Ring, appear here in bit parts, you don't have to have read it first to enjoy this one. It just whets your appetite for book one if you haven't read it (and I have not).
Although contemporary romance isn't a favorite genre of mine (not enough supernatural critters in it *grin*), after reading this and Daniel's Decision: Book 4 in the Emerald Springs Legacy, Nichole Flockton is on my must read list.
