We catch up with Anderson two years after the death of Kloe - he has moved on to a certain extent but he misses her dreadfully. Their son Sam is now his main priority and all his love goes into him, so when Sam falls ill Anderson is beside himself with worry, but finds a friend in Jeanie; the nurse assigned to look after Sam in hospital, he feels a connection between the both of them but Jeanie has big problems of her own to deal with without Anderson interfering with her life.
I so love the character of Anderson, he has that luscious dark side to him that makes him so addictive to read, so alpha, so sexy with a mouth to die for, strong and at times harsh, he has a big heart deep down and I do love this man.
Jeanie was an interesting character and she has some real problems that were fascinating to follow and if there is one small criticism with this book; for me - it just wasn't long enough and it felt slightly rushed, and I do feel that these characters and their story would have benefited with a much more detailed story so we could explore and enjoy them even more.
This is a compliment to Dawn, because her writing and her characters are always so interesting and captivating to read that I never want her books to end, I could have read this story forever as she brings her characters to life and into your hearts each and every time, and you never forget them. Anderson and Kloe will always remain in my heart.
A fantastic series not to be missed. !!
You must read Caged and chained before you read this one to completely understand Anderson, and why he is like he is. I for one love him and all his issues! When the last book finished my heart ached so much for Anderson and I wondered how he would cope without Kloe. He did cope in his own way and of course had Sam to bring up, so he was Anderson's one and only priority. I didn't think I could love him anymore, but I do now!
Jeanie is a new character to this series and she is Sam's nurse when he is admitted to hospital. Unfortunately Jeanie's life is in grave danger, when Anderson finds this out he wants to keep her safe. (I certainly wouldn't mind him keeping me safe that's for sure!!!)
As much as I really liked this book I wanted so much more. I know it's a novella and it's not a full length novel but the characters are so complex and unique, that for me I wanted and needed more. I felt the end came far too quickly. It was a book that I could have stayed stuck in for a long time.
I know I might be just being a tad selfish and greedy for wanting more but Dawn has always had this way of sucking me in to her stories to the point where I feel like I'm living them too. I was just starting to live and feel this and then it was over. I well and truly spat my dummy out I wanted to keep swiping across for more!!
If you have read books 1 and 2 then you really need to read this! If you haven't then what are you waiting for??!!
Just when you think that one man has suffered enough in his life with loss and personal tragedy this poor man goes to hell and back once again. The sex scenes are as erotic as hell and as edgy as ever. Anderson still craves the pain to feel the pleasure and he finds his someone in the form of Jeanie to give him what he needs in a place you would least expect.
There is an underlying tone of danger and suspense that you would expect from this series and DH Sidebottom is a genius at writing these dark and exciting reads.
I absolutely love this series and this was a fitting ending to tie up all the loose ends.
An amazing 5 Stars!
This little Novella shows us an insight into Andersons life a couple of years after the tragedy he suffered in the last story.
He still hasn't come to terms with what happened but looking after his son Sam gives his life meaning. He adores that little boy But things are never easy for Anderson when his son takes ill and he's forced to endure the possibility of loosening another person he loves. Anderson is on the edge until a nurse at the hospital seems to calm the rage inside of him, someone who's just like him in a way.
Jeanine works as a nurse she's has secrets of her own her past is back to haunt her. Will Anderson be able to help her the way she helps him.
Great Read and I couldn't of wished for more.
There's a few things that i can't get my head around.
She had someone wanting to kill her yet went to a stranger's home? No fear, no concerns.
He wouldn't allow her to sit on the bed in the basement but shared the marital bed the following night with her.. he left his son in the hospital while taking this stranger back to his house but he was a doting dad??
I love d h Sidebottom her work never fails to blow me away. I love her dark words and the way I'm always speechless at the end of it but this just didn't work for me.
