Product Description

Live archive release from the Southern Rock icons. This 1971 set features the band's original (and best) lineup -Duane, Gregg, Dickey, Butch, Jaimoe and Berry. 1971 was a watershed year for the Allman Brothers Band they recorded their seminal live album, At Fillmore East, in March, and continued to tour relentlessly. By this point, their performances had reached a level of musicianship and intensity that other groups could only dream of. At Fillmore East was released in July to massive critical acclaim, and a month later, they rolled back into Boston to once again jam in the Common, playing two shows on August 17th.

4 out of 5 just because the sound is a tad low on a couple of tracks, but all in all that could be me being picky the sound does pick up later on and for the time the recording is fine but anything with duane allman has got to be a plus

This was recorded just over two months before Duane was tragically killed. Most of the tracks are on Fillmore East, but with a jamming band they are obviously not identical here. If you don't have Fillmore East, I'd say get that first (the Deluxe Edition!!!), but otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it, and how can you give Duane at his best less than five stars?

Although this is a mono recording the sound is clear and the guitars of Dickey Betts and Duane Allman are easily distinguishable. The band had refined their sound since Fillmore East and produce a set full of fiery jams.
