The GE7 was my first pedal. Even though I've now moved on to the world of guitar modelling with the Roland VG99, I still use the lessons I learned from the GE7 in every sound I set up.
Essentially, this is a 7 band graphic equaliser with an unseemly amount of boost and cut in the frequencies which are most useful to guitarists. Each band, from 100 Hz to 6.4 kHz offers 15 db of boost or cut. The bands are an octave apart, and each covers approximately 2/3 of an octave above and below its centre frequency, so you get an overlap in the middle of the octave which has been tuned relatively intelligently to take advantage of the fall off to avoid excessive notches or peaks when two sliders are pushed up together. The bottom note on a guitar is 83 Hz, so the range is nicely covered, even if you drop the bass E down to a D. At the top end, the final slider extends up to around 10 kHz, which is the zone of pick noise on an acoustic guitar, or beyond the sizzly/raspy on an electric.Read more ›
I have used this GE-7 in my arsenal of pedals on my board for both changing the tone of your guitar and tweaking it to perfection, but also a useful fact about this is you can use it as a BOOST PEDAL!
When i use this a boost pedal, i cut some of the lows (because not used much in solo's) and then i will slightly boost a few of the certain highs with then around a 1-2dB boost on the level output. This really gets any solo to cut through the mix and shine right to the back of any audience!
With this pedal having some many uses, what can be bad about it? well even the build quality is top notch, being a boss pedal, we all know the sturdy ness these have to offer.
So overall this is a brilliant versatile pedal, there is no reason not to buy it right now!
Take some time to acquaint yourself with this pedal and it'll be time well spent.
