About Bose

Dedication to research and excellence has been the Bose approach to better sound since Dr. Amar G. Bose founded the company in 1964. Ever since then, Bose engineers have focused on creating superior technology. You'll find that focus exemplified in the SoundTrue headphones.

A very good pair of headphones with just a few very minor issues with the case and wire. I won't comment on the sound quality much apart from saying it is excellent. Bose has a reputation for high end sound and it has proven once again it can deliver phenomenal sound with excellent design. They are very light and "extremely" comfortable to wear, even with glasses. However there are a few issues that keep me from giving this product a five star rating. First issue would be the case. While the case itself is very nice and has a good premium feel to it, I can't help but feeling that putting the headphones in feels awkward. You have to adjust them and shuffle it a fair bit around to fit it properly, but again not a big issue. Secondly, I feel as though the the connecting cable is just a bit too delicate. I am used to fairly thick and robust cables for my headphones, so it might just be my personal qualm with it, but it is on the thinner side and I always feel as though any excessive manhandling will break it. (don't plan to test it out!) I would have preferred a more durable cable. The cable is also quite long, easily dragging across my feed (5'10" here). While not a big issue for me, it might be a dealbreaker for others.

I tested a few different headphones in the same price range but settled on these partly because of the detachable audio cable and the fact that they were so comfortable. The sound from them is pretty decent, but only for their price range. The audio cable is the perfect length if you’re planning to use them with a laptop, but it’s a bit long if you’re using them solely with an MP3 player. My only real gripe is that the headphones are too focused on compatibility with Apple products. If, when using my laptop, I make the mistake of trying to pause anything – Spotify for example – using the central button on the inline remote iTunes suddenly starts up. That’s definitely a pretty stupid function that I didn’t want or need.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
✨ The headphones are very light, surprisingly light! Almost unbelievably light. The sound is great.

🆒 You can wear these with the volume turned way up, without the sound bothering people around you. As in: they can be sitting next to you and they won't be disturbed (for example, if they are studying or sleeping).

⭐️ They are incredibly comfortable to wear; can easily have them on for hours on end without feeling it.

💷 Are they worth £149? Well put it this way - if you're on a very strict budget, then no. IMHO, they'd be perfect at £90. But who am I to decide these things?

👓 Some perhaps disparagingly, call Bose headphones, "Fashion Headphones". I think the black ones are a bit bland. (But it also means it attracts less attention, and are hopefully less likely to be stolen)

👕 I think they're nice as a "wearable", almost an item of clothing. Their weight and comfort really matters.

* The sound is very good, but it's not as amazing as some by other perhaps more niche, brands.

✅ You can use in noisy environments - and block out a good deal of the "real world"

⬆️ They go very, very loud.

I like how they fold completely flat.

I've had my Bose Ae2 (practically the same as the "SoundTrue") for two years. I'll list the main pros and cons of the headphones before explaining why the Ae2 have been the perfect pair of headphones for me.

Pros:
-Clear and crisp sound
-Lightweight and portable
-Clean and subtle aesthetics

Cons:
-Arguably overpriced
-Slight lack of bass

As a 16 year old, I use these headphones for hours every day at school and home. I was unimpressed by the sound quality and distasteful appearance of the Beats by Dre that my friends were using, and so was incredibly satisfied after getting a pair of Ae2 for Christmas. They are quite expensive (Bose generally are) but when compared to the Beats, I think the Bose SoundTrue headphones are actually brilliant value. As for other headphones of a similar quality, maybe not so much, but I have little experience of the such. I have used the same pair for 2 years (previous earphones/headphones were lucky to see 6 months) with a replacement of the cable after it was chewed by an excited puppy, and replacement cushions due to wear and tear. So far, neither the strong plastic casing or headband have succumbed to the stresses of being thrown around in a bag for most of the day at school. The light, low profile cans and soft padding mean that the headphones are very comfortable even during extended periods of use, especially when laying against a pillow.

I can't comment in much detail on the specific characteristics of the sound quality and signature due to a lack of experience with other headphones. What I can say, is that music seems very clear and crisp, though sometimes lacks bass. For the most part, I listen to classic rock, jazz, blues, and old hip-hop.

Fully justified the hefty price tag, The sound quality is superb, better than my AKG K240 Monitors and far lighter and more comfortable for prolonged wearing. The fact that they fold and stow in a neat zip pouch is a bonus. Can't recommend them too highly!
