Dedication to research and excellence has been the Bose approach to better sound since Dr. Amar G. Bose founded the company in 1964. Ever since then, Bose engineers have focused on creating better technology. You'll find that focus exemplified in the Bose QuietComfort 5i headphones.
About The Product
QuietComfort 15 headphones are made with improvements in noise reduction technology made by Bose, which means you’ll hear more of your films and music and less noise. In addition, they provide a durable and comfy fit, with the sound quality you’d expect from Bose, of course.
Bose technology in practice
Sophisticated technology in the microphones, which sit on the inside and outside of each ear cup, senses the ambient noise and minimises the sound level. Bose-own ear cushion technology absorbs some of the noise before you can even hear it. These innovations by Bose work together to create a more pleasurable listening experience.
Unwind with music - or without it
These small, lightweight earcups also feature Bose-own signal processing and TriPort acoustic headphone structure for more natural sound - including full low notes. Switch on QC headphones to minimise the noise around you, wherever you are, when you're not in the mood for music.
Take the call. Stay in control
QuietComfort 15 headphones come with a cable customised for certain Apple products. An inline microphone and remote allow you to answer calls on your iPhone and puts you in control of music functions on other Apple products. A mobile kit that allows your QC headphones to work with other mobile phones is also available.
Hear only what you want to hear
Imagine the roar of the engines fading to a murmur when you fly. Imagine listening to music at home or at work without outside noise getting between you and the music. Imagine being able to switch to calls at the press of a button. It’s all possible with QuietComfort 15 headphones. You will hear more of what you’d like to hear, and less of what you don't.
Bose-own innovations now use microphones on the inside and outside of both ear cups to pick up and cancel out more of the noise around you for major noise reduction over a broader range of frequencies. Bose’s proprietary TriPort acoustic headphone structure has small vents in the ear cups that deliver a tonally-balanced sound performance, with rich bass notes, from lightweight, on-ear headphones. The frequency response of the headphones is tuned electronically using active equalisation technology, to create an amazing sound performance. Two detachable audio cables are provided, for more ease-of-use than permanently connected Y-cables. This includes a cable for selected Apple products and a cable for general use. An inline microphone makes hands-free iPhone conversations possible, and allows access to various voice applications, like Voice Control and VoiceOver, for selected Apple devices. Switch between your music and calls, and stay in control of track selection, volume and voice applications on certain Apple devices with the inline three-button remote. Advanced ear cushions are engineered with innovative materials that create an all-important acoustic seal, which helps to cancel noise out, while fitting comfortably. Flat-folding ear cups swivel 90 degrees for convenient portability and storage in the included carrying case, which protects the headphone and your accessories when you’re on the go.
The following Bose headphones and headsets are compatible with the Apple devices listed below: FreeStyle earbuds, Bose MIE2i Mobile headset, QuietComfort 20i Acoustic Noise Cancelling headphones, QuietComfort 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling headphones, QuietComfort 3 Acoustic Noise Cancelling headphones, Bose SIE2i sport headphones and SoundTrue headphones.

As soon as I turned them on, the hum of the air conditioning system simply disappeared, the music my phone was playing was clear, with well defined bass and treble sounds and superb differentiation across the whole audio range. I went home, looked round and bought these the same day.
I have listened to everything from spoken word to a full brass band and the quality is remarkable, there is nothing I have heard that comes close. The best thing though is the noise cancelling. My work takes me into a noisy computer hall where there is the sound of cooling fans and air conditioning, we are supplied with ear plugs but I tried these with no lead. The effect was amazing, the level of noise I was getting even with earplugs just went, and I found I could have a conversation with the others in the data hall without having to shout to be heard.
I just can't say enough to praise these, they are without doubt, the best headphones I have ever used.
These Bose are a different animal altogether. They are not 'perfect' but they are the best noise cancelling headphones available by all accounts and bought for £219, they were still boxed in the original packaging. After wearing them on a 10 hour flight to Beijing, I really felt the difference between the Goldring. They arrived on time and fast delivery was included. One issue with this style of can is if you don't enjoy sleeping flat on your back, sleeping on your side will dull their performance slightly when you make contact with anything that conducts vibration. That said, I'm certain I made the right choice. Came with 2 choices of cable, one specifically for apple products with volume control. My only quip in general, these are as good as it gets to date, but on sale in the US for $269, so why so expensive here?
A few cons you cant just wear them around your neck and leave home for the train station or airport a bit uncomfortable due to their size. But when on the head they are very comfortable and you can wear them on long flights. Only if you want to sleep obviously they are over head so you cant just turn around and sleep on the flight while they are on in most positions. :)
Please trust my look no further these are on a different class level that even (very tempting beats or Parrot Zik by Philippe Starck) trust me clarity of sound and frequency response is not even comparable. I was sold for Zik until i manage to try these with all others thanks to Currys Duty Free at Heathrow.
Part of what makes them so effective, I suspect, are the soft, deep earpads, which completely cover and surround each ear. They are very comfortable, and I can and do wear them for hours at a time without any problems other than a slight heat buildup caused by the close seal around my ears. This quickly goes away if I take the headphones off for a few minutes.
Like other over-ear headphones, they don't play well with spectacles. The pads press against the arms of the glasses, which press against my head, causing discomfort, as well as creating a gap under the earpad through which unwanted noise can creep in. So I leave my glasses off, or balance them inelegantly on top of the earpads.
I was not expecting the audio quality to be outstanding, given the amount of processing the sound undergoes before reaching my ears. However, I was pleasantly surprised and enjoy using these headphones to listen to music and audiobooks. Admittedly, they don't give me the "wow" feeling of the best (non-ANC) headphones I've used, but I can live with that. The QC15's ANC circuitry produces a slight hiss when activated, but this is very hard to detect when playing music.
One problem: After a few weeks of use, I started getting an intermittent soft crackling in one or both earpieces. It has recurred a few times and seems to be getting more frequent, generally lasting several minutes and then fading away. After searching online, it appears to be a problem other users have experienced. A suggested solution I found was to replace the battery (even if the "battery low" indicator was not flashing). This does sometimes work. Otherwise, I switch the headphones off for about 10 minutes, and when I try them again, the crackling has gone. If the problem continues to recur, I may put Bose's customer service to the test.
Incidentally, I also own the Bose QC20i ANC earphones. Though impressive, I do not find them as good as the QC15s for comfort, audio quality or noise cancellation. However, this is just my personal experience, and it may be that the tips supplied with the QC20i are not an optimal fit for my ears. I have also used the Sony MDR1RNC Noise Cancelling Headphones. They have great build quality, but I found them to be heavier, less comfortable and significantly less effective than the Bose at reducing traffic noise.
UPDATE - After about 6 months of daily use, the earpad on one side split open along the row of airholes, revealing the foam padding. A quick call to Bose resulted in a new pair of earpads being sent out free of charge, which I have now fitted. Replacing the earpads has also signicantly reduced (but not entirely eliminated) the occasional crackling noises I mentioned, so I suspect there may be a connection there. Perhaps the noise is the sound of the foam moving or the airholes in the leather-like cover slowly splitting?
