I have been after a pair of Bose noise cancelling headphones for years. I'd seen them in use on planes and been very envious of the owners, so much so that I was tempted to go into those lavish Bose stores and try the headphones out in the specially created testing booths. I should point out that the model at the time was the QuietComfort 15. I'd been close to buying a pair but could never really justify the huge price tag. So I did the next best thing and bought another brand. I started out with a lesser known brand (Jabra) but the left ear cup failed on me after a while (you get what you pay for I guess). Next up was a top of the line pair by Sennheiser, not quite the price of Bose but close. I was comforted by the marketing telling me that German pilots used them so they'd have to be good enough for me! Upon receiving them they were bulkier than I expected and after use I was aware of their weight and eventually they began to hurt. Worst of all the main job of cancelling noise just wasn't good enough, on par with my cheaper pair perhaps but not close to the Bose QuietComfort 15's I'd been toying with.

When Bose released the AE2 headphones at a fraction of the price I snapped them up immediately and honestly have not had a better pair of headphones before. They are incredibly comfortable and light and the sound quality is superb. I won't do a high fidelity review on them as this review is for the QuietComfort 25's but suffice it to say, Bose had set the standard and I thought I would not require another pair of headphones for a long time.

Then I got Tinnitus....

I don't have tinnitus badly, it's only in my left ear, a constant high pitched feedback type sound that seems to vary in pitch depending on the day I have had.Read more ›

These are fantastic headphones with great sound quality, really easy to wear and they look good.

Why am I only giving them 3 stars? I am about to have another replacement from Amazon as the build quality is not good. I have had three of these fail with the same fault. They work well for about three months than the right earpiece sound goes. That's the one the folds up.

I use them every day on my commute to work and back so its annoying when they fail. When you pay over £250 for a set of headphones you expect more than 3 months use. I had an earler set of Bose QC headphones and they were incredibly reliable and my son is now using them after ovber 5 years of use.

So, I have no problems with Bose or the design. However, the reliability and durability is awful.

Really impressed with Amazon's returns service though. It is incredibly efficient and easy to use. So well done to Amazon. You get 5 stars from me. Bose, you just scrape a three on this one. Sort your build quality out.

Excellent sound quality. However, like many others have previously reported the build quality is very poor. I've kept the headphones in excellent condition and they've only ever been moderately used but only after 9 months the right drum has failed. As they're still in the first year of warranty Bose won't replace them directly, so have to do this via Amazon - which I'm still trying to do....

Save yourself the headache and avoid these. They were excellent while they lasted, but within a few months the sound in the right ear went out, with a good deal of crackling, just like many others here. Bose has not offered a repair, and this will be my last time buying from them. Consider buying them once reliability or service gets better, but avoid for now.

First the positives: these headphones sound incredible, are very comfortable and the noise cancelling technology works very well for cutting out background noise on trains, planes etc

Unfortunately I've now had two pairs that have developed the same fault - one earphone stops producing sound entirely within a couple of months. I always keep the headphones in the case and they are otherwise in pristine condition. Either Amazon had a bad batch or there is a design fault - maybe the folding mechanism puts strain on an internal connection? I have no idea.

With noise cancelling and the included airplane adapter, these headphones are clearly designed for travelling, it's just a shame they don't seem robust enough for the job.

I bought a pair of these headphones from Oxford Street London as an upgrade from the previous bulkier version. My other pair of Bose headphones were falling apart and the new model had just come out and so I went out and bought it. BEST DECISION OF MY LIFE.

As soon as I put these headphones on, I thought to myself how had they done it! It was amazing! The songs I listened to were clearer and sounded amazing. For around £300 these headphones are the best I have every bought. I recently took a plane journey and put these one before we took off and nothing. The noise cancelling had done such a good job that I thought we hadn't even taken off before I look out my window.

Pros
-Astonishingly good noise cancellation
-Clear, balanced sound
-Comfortable to wear
-Battery lasts much longer than previous version
-New design makes them look AMAZING!

Cons
-A little expensive but you get what you pay for

Overall if you can afford it I wouldn't give it a seconds thought as these headphones are probably the best I have ever used and it is perfect for every lifestyle.
