Dedication to research and excellence has been the Bose approach to better sound since Dr. Amar G. Bose founded the company in 1964. Ever since then, Bose engineers have focused on creating better technology. You'll find that focus exemplified in the Bose® Bluetooth® headset Series 2.
About The Product
Bluetooth® headset Series 2 meets this challenge head-on. Designed to adapt automatically as ambient noise levels change, it will let you hear the person on the other end of the line so clearly, it’s almost as if they’re standing next to you. Bose’s proprietary noise-rejecting microphone system also allows your caller to hear your voice better over the wind and noise around you. From loud traffic to bustling terminals, staying in touch while you're on the go can be demanding.
The Bose® Bluetooth® headset Series 2 is light-weight, small and well-balanced, and available in left or right -ear options. Experience how cutting-edge Bose technologies allow your caller to hear less ambient noise, like wind, and more of your voice.
Better audio at either end of your phone call
Enjoy consistent listening levels thanks to advanced technology by Bose. The Bose® Bluetooth® headset automatically senses ambient noise and adjusts the volume on the headset accordingly. In a quiet environment, volume levels go down. When things get noisier, the audio goes up to allow you to hear your caller better. No matter what the volume level, Bose’s TriPort® acoustic structure will let you hear smooth, natural audio.
Your caller will also hear you better, too. The advanced noise-rejecting microphone system differentiates between ambient sound and your voice — even in windy areas. It transmits less noise, and more of your voice to the person on the other side of the line.
The Bose® Bluetooth® headset emphasises voices over noise, allowing for more lifelike conversations with fewer interruptions — at either end of the line.
Engineered for a superior fit
Designed to suit your needs better, the headset comes in left and right-ear options, with a curved design that follows the features of your face. The buttons have been conveniently placed at the top and bottom of the Bose® Bluetooth® Series 2 headset, which allows you to use a natural pinching motion that won't dislodge it. The headset is fitted with a flexible StayHear® silicone tip to keep it comfortably and securely in place. The tip avoids known pressure points by distributing contact over a larger ear area, without being too tight or requiring an ear hook.
Simple to use
Separate buttons for volume, call send/end and power have been conveniently placed on the top and bottom edges of the Bose Bluetooth® headset. You can easily use one hand to operate the device, whether you’re answering or ending calls, or putting on or taking off the headset. This feature can be extremely important when you’re on the move or driving.
A2DP streaming audio
Enjoy streaming mobile media content when you're not on the phone through A2DP, the Bluetooth® profile that allows you to listen to turn-by-turn directions and stored music, podcasts and other media on your smartphone.
Maintain a consistent listening level as you move between quiet and noisy areas with Bose’s adaptive audio adjustment technology, which automatically adjusts the volume of your headset to ambient noise levels. Filter out background noise with the noise rejecting microphone, so that your caller can hear more of you. Enjoy more natural-sounding voice quality and louder volumes in noisy areas thanks to the headset’s TriPort® acoustic structure. StayHear® removable silicone tips, available in small, medium and large, improve stability without requiring an ear hook, for a customised fit that’s comfortable too. The rechargeable lithium-ion battery allows up to 100 hours of standby time and 4.5 hours of talk time per charge. The battery status, which changes from green to amber to red, is shown on the battery indicator. Pinch the answer/end call button to answer your calls easily and end them just as simply, without dislodging the headset. You can also pair the headset with your Bluetooth® phone. Turn the power on (green) or off (red) with one hand. All it takes is a quick slide of the power slider switch. Charge your headset’s battery using your choice of the wall and USB chargers. Protect your headset by using the carrying case during transportation and storage.

The link is that they are applying their experience in audio to offering a better quality in-ear headset. This makes some sense, but I cannot imagine many people will want to listen to music using something like this, as you only get half the picture and it is fiddly to switch uses for something as small as this.
This is a very small and light unit that you hardly notice when it is in your ear. It felt comfortable and was easy to position so that it didn't fall out. The comprehensive instructions give diagrams showing how to insert and then twist. You could easily forget that the device is in, as it doesn't block your hearing and is so light.
There must have been some compromises made though - to get all this in such a light unit and possibly it is battery life? You have to charge this for several hours on setup and it needs constant topping up.
The package included a charger which connects to a USB cable, as well as 3 sets of earpiece to suit different sizes - small, medium and large. A rather neat black carrying case is also included.
In practice, nost people aren't going to buy this for HiFi audio in one ear, so really the question comes down to whether you need a headset that cancels external noise - presumably if you are making a lot of calls from your car on the motorway or from outside in the wind.
The unit is excellent for voice calls and it does sound a lot better - it could be also be useful for conference calls and when you need hands-free on any occasion. Certainly a high-quality item and exceptionally comfortable and light - but whether you really need a headset like this, depends on how often you are out and about on the phone and the situations you are likely to be making calls from.
In the end you need to balance the expense against how often you haven't been able to hear and have a need for something like this - it's certainly going to come down to personal choice. Very nice to have, but not necessarily essential for most uses.
Now, the bad news:
1. The sound quality is absolutely appalling. There is a constant white noise in the background, to the extent that when I need to take down numbers or address details from someone, I usually have to ask them to use the phonetic alphabet no matter how clear they would otherwise be (i.e. the clarity of sound I get if I simply switch to listening directly on the handset).
2. Interestingly, the white noise is only apparent on phone calls, not when streaming media. However, the white noise is not just outside - it equally applies when I'm sitting in a completely silent living room.
3. Connection is unreliable - several times when streaming media, there have been a series of interruptions like a old fashioned record player skipping on a vinyl record.
4. Battery life is poor compared to Plantronics. However, I was aware of that before I purchased and it was something I had decided to live with as I thought it would be outweighed by the benefits of the headset.
5. I am returning the item and despite the fact that it is faulty/inadequate, the seller is not even offering to refund all of my postage! Unless I schlep to one of their designated drop off points, I'll only get part of my postage refunded! And I've already paid £130 for the unit.
I have asked for an exchange to see if the unit was faulty or whether it's just generally a poor quality product as I like the look and feel enough to give it a second chance. If there is any improvement, I will revisit this review.
Edit: I got the replacement, and sad to say, it's no better. Constant white noise. A great shame.
