The PMF 180 E All Rounder Multi Set--making the All Rounder even more versatile
The Bosch PMF 180 E All Rounder has a wide range of applications from cutting and sawing wood, plastic and metal to sanding, scraping and de-grouting. Even in the tightest of corners and edges it can be used thanks to its ergonomic design and handy accessories.
The PMF 180 E is easy to use because you have a secure grip on the tool at all times. Plus, the fully variable speed allows you to match the working speed to the material. The 180 watt motor provides high power for all its applications. The more you work with it, the more you will appreciate its abilities: its handiness and power, and its manoeuvrability in tight spaces. You are sure to come up with countless ways of using the PMF 180 E.
This PMF 180 E Multi Set contains the All Rounder tool, plus 13 valuable accessories that would cost much more to add to your toolbox at a later date. These useful accessories will allow you to complete an even greater number of DIY jobs. For example, with the included metal saw blades, you can cut through metal pipes or protruding nails quickly. And with the flexible scraper, you can remove glue easily from various surfaces.
Cutting is a doddle with the All Rounder
Plunge cutting into wood
You can make a variety of useful cuts with the plunge cut saw blades for wood: make cutouts in door frames, or in furniture to access wall outlets. This Multi Set includes the 32x40mm wood blade, and the 32x40mm hard wood blade.
Cutting in metal
Even metal can’t stop the PMF 180 E--with the 10x20mm metal cutting blade included in this Multi Set, you can cut metal items such as protruding nails and pipes flush to the surface. You can even use the metal cutting blades to make plunge cuts into plasterboard for power sockets. You’ll be able to do this without great effort--but with the highest precision.
Cutting in tight spaces
With the PMF 180 E and the Wood/Metal Segment Blade, you can trim the bottom of the door architrave skirting after laying laminate and hardwood flooring. Simply place the blade on an upturned piece of flooring, and gently cut the architrave, remove the off cut, and slide under your flooring for a perfect finish.
Another cutting accessory available to purchase separately is the Segment Serrated Knife. The depressed design of this blade allows you to work flush to the work surface, enabling you to cut insulation and soft materials to fit precisely into the space required. Manufactured using BiMetal technology, the Serrated Knife Blade will give a very long serice life.
The Universal Groove Cutter attachment (sold separately) allows for easy removal of joint-filling compounds like plastics and silicone. Cutting on all three sides, and to a depth of 50mm, it is able to reach into the tightest corners with ease because of the All Rounder’s tapered body shape and the Groove Cutter’s narrow cutting tip. It can also cut common soft-insulation materials, like Flumroc.
Sawing made easy
Tiled areas in and around your home are often subject to damp, and mould can grow between the tiles, especially on tile grout. The PMF 180 E is the perfect tool for repairing this problem. Simply fit the Tungsten Carbide Riff Segment Blade included in the Set, and run this along the grout between the tiles. The grout is quickly and simple removed, ready for you to re-grout.
Sanding: for the perfect finish
The PMF 180 E ensures perfect surfaces, because its sanding attachment turns it into a powerful and low vibration detail sander. Simply fit the Delta sanding head to sand in small, or awkward, hard-to-reach areas that other sanders can’t reach, such as in between stair banisters or on window frames. And because the PMF 180 E is extremely lightweight, you can achieve impressive results without having to apply a lot of feed pressure. What's more, clean-up is easy because the PMF 180 E has a dust extraction port for connecting to a vacuum cleaner. This Multi Set includes 6 red wood sanding sheets and the Delta sanding head.
The PMF 180 E is also designed for scraping, even in hard-to-reach areas. The short rigid scraping accessory included in this Multi Set can help you remove glue from surfaces after carpet removal, or mortar and concrete remnants--even remove paint from glass, or stubborn stickers. You can also purchase the long flexible scraper separately.
Oscillation: the secret to the All Rounder’s success
The technical secret behind the versatility of the PMF 180 E is its oscillation principle: the accessories do not move in a circular motion, but rather oscillate at an angle of ±1.4 degrees in each direction. This oscillating movement can occur up to 20,000 times a minute, achieving safe, effective cutting.< br />

My first impressions are that this is an incredibly useful tool. The fact that the blade oscillates rather than rotates means that you can work in very tight spaces. It also does not suffer from the 'grab' that say an angle grinder would. It is also a tool that requires no practice to get a very proffessional result. I made a test cut using some old skirting, then just went for it cutting a 16" x 55" recess in a very expensive wood floor! The result was perfect with the tool cutting right up to the chimney breast with no problem at all. Even the wife was impressed. I have since found several other sanding and cutting uses for it as we are in the process of refurbishing a house. The tool is very easy to control and comes with several useful accessories plus a sturdy carry case.
Pros: No experience needed, very little dust, very thin and accurate cutting, faster sanding than a standard delta sander, incredibly light and easy to control, good price
Cons: Accessories seem a little difficult to find, does not fit in carry case when the plunge cutter is fitted (this really is nit picking)
Would I buy it again? Absolutely - I don't know what I did before I had it!
I have used it for flooring, removing coving, repairing badly plastered walls, detailing work, tiling and it has never let me down. The accessories in this kit would cost a fortune over the Amazon asking price and I would say represent excellent value compared to the basic option which only contains the sander pad, plunge cut and bimetal semicircular blade.
You can get the generic sanding sheets much cheaper in the pound shops and on ebay, so don't pay the extortionate prices asked for Bosch originals, as there really is no difference. The one thing I would criticise is the flimsiness of the sanding pad which utilises the velcro hook and loop fastening to hold the sanding sheet in place. I have found that when detailing the pad can easily burn through and wear down especially on the apices which you mainly use. Bosch have changed the design over the past 6months with a softer white rubber beneath the hook pad but it's still prone to burn through so be careful and keep the pressure light and the speed low when doing the detailing work.
Bosch seem to have made the decision to make more money from selling their spares, much like printer manufacturers do with cartridges.
I have owned the earlier version of this tool for many years. Whilst it only sands the velcro head has been used time and again and has really lasted well. Slight wear on the edges but you'd expect that. Unfortunately on my latest DIY job the sprindle drive to the head broke rendering the sanding head useless. Fair enough, I've had many years use out of it and tools wear out.
Having been so impressed I bought the Bosch 180e as a direct replacement. The tool body is the same, the sanding action is the same, so my sanding technique is therefore the same.
Having done one side of a 15ft room with the Bosch 180 sander head and bosch sand paper (details on skirting board and picture rails)I noticed that the sand paper was sliding around on the head. On closer inspection I found that the velcro had worn to the point that it could not grip the sand paper. Also the plastic body was breaking up where it had touched wooden surfaces in corners etc. Presumably as a manufacturer you would expect this degree of contact and therefore design for this in the product.
I can only refer back to my previous model which showed none of this wear after many years useage.
Maybe it's me but I expect sander heads to last longer than this. By my calculation I will need 4 replacement heads to fine sand one 15ft square room. At a cost of £10 per head that's 40 quid plus the sand paper.
This to me is unacceptable. So I voted with my feet and bought another brand and it's been brilliant.
As I only bought the unit in September I will now be chasing Bosch to sort this out. Hassle I frankly do not need.
It took a while with the supplied blades but once into the swing of things it worked fine. Had to get more blades as the supplied ones started to wear down although with practice and less hitting stone and nails they would last longer. Some reviews suggest they're expensive but do an internet search and you can get them at a price that I thought was fair.
It's certainly worth getting a face mask as it creates quite a bit of dust if you don't have some sort of extraction system.
Left or right handed, cutting in confined spaces? The blades change easily and can be fixed at various angles to make cutting easier.
All in all and excellent tool

Works well but much noisier than a Feinn. But ear defenders to go with it. This has now had years of hard commercial use and has done very well. Worth every penny.Published 1 month ago by T. C. Knight

Fantastic tool, used this on numerous projects and it is great. On the con side I have had to purchase a new head as the original loses its stickiness with the sanding pads.Published 6 months ago by townie49
