IXO 4—Indispensably practical, practically indispensable
The IXO 4 is more than just a pretty face—this small and handy tool can take on a wide range of everyday screwdriving tasks around the home. Anybody who is moving house, refurbishing, or who simply needs to retighten a few screws won’t want to do without this powerful partner. It can help you accomplish all kinds of screwdriving applications, in all materials, and with all types of screws.
Thanks to lithium-ion technology the IXO is extremely small, and lightweight at only 300 grams. Also, lithium-ion technology ensures that there is no battery self-discharge, which means that the IXO is always ready for use. The battery has no memory effect as well, which means it can be recharged at any time without losing capacity over its lifetime.
The IXO is packed with other indispensable features. The work light on the top of the IXO is handy for working in dark areas. The forward/reverse indicator and charge level indicator make the tool easy to operate. And, the ergonomically shaped handle, with its large softgrip surface, provides a better and more comfortable hold. The magnetic bit holder keeps the bits firmly in place and allows extremely fast bit changes.
The advantages of lithium-ion technology
Tools with lithium-ion technology are ready for use practically all of the time. Regardless of whether the battery is fully charged, partially charged, or flat, you can put it in the charging station without having to worry about self-discharge or memory effect.
Small tools, big progress—simply remarkable
Bosch lithium-ion cordless tools like the IXO are ready for use quickly. Even after a period of 4 months on standby, a fully charged lithium-ion battery is still charged to approximately 85%. This means that Bosch Power is available to you for six times longer than that of conventional NiCd batteries.
Full power at all times
No self-discharge, no memory effect: constant battery capacity over the entire lifetime. Always ready when you are thanks to lithium-ion technology.
Same battery power at half the size
Due to the lithium-ion technology, the size and weight of the batteries are reduced by approximately 60% compared to conventional nickel cadmium batteries—although they offer the same amount of power.
Batteries that can withstand the elements
The intelligent electronic cell protection, Bosch ECP, protects the lithium-ion batteries against excessive temperatures and overload, therefore giving them a particularly long lifetime.
High power, low weight
Bosch cordless tools with lithium-ion technology impress with their very compact design, low weight and very good ease of use. This saves you a lot of effort when doing those DIY jobs.
Always ready to hand with the integrated suspension hook
The IXO 4 features a suspension hook integrated into the ergonomic handle, which can be attached to a band or cord, so it’s always ready to hand, and easy to carry from one DIY project to another.
Smart-looking, innovative packaging and storage
The IXO comes complete in a high quality tin box with embossed design elements, making it a great-looking gift. The inside of the box is fitted with a smart inlay for easy storage of the IXO, charger and accessories. Alternatively, the tool can be stored outside the tin on its practical charging station, ready to use when you need it.

Top customer reviews
The driver itself is quite smart and easy to use as expected but the grip is only big enough for three fingers so it's difficult to get a great purchase. The torque is not brilliant to be honest so I will still be using my drill for tougher jobs. There is a decent selection of bits but they are held on the charging station so you need to carry that around with you which again is none to practical. A small portable case would have been much simpler but the great value Bosch 50 Piece X-Line Accessory Set compliments this and your drill much better.
All in all a fairly nice piece of kit but a bit over-presented and not really up to the tougher jobs.
The only down side for me is the fact that the heads are held magnetically in the base while not in use. Now although this is a fabulous idea so they dont fall out, I have arthritic hands and find it quite difficult to pull them out. I use one of those grippy rubber things you use to get the tops off jars.
Didn't like the forward/reverse switch though, as its too close to the on/off switch. Being loose too, means that I continually found that the direction selected was easily changed back inadvertantly!
The screw bits provided were nearly all for crosshead screws so had to find other types elsewhere. I know I could have paid for extra bits but I'm reviewing the driver as it comes.
Box is very pretty presentwise but when driver in use with charger its bulk gets in the way.
All in all, good value for money at Amazon price but too expensive at retail
After charging it seems to go on and on! Don't let the cheap price put you off, I've bought much more expensive ones that have broken after a short while.
Some have said that they want a torque and speed adjustment but I cannot see that this would improve the excellent performance of this unit; neither have I ever seen such on any small electric screwdriver. I would have liked to have seen a bit extension but as I do have a spare, this too doesn't bother me unduly.
Altogether, I'm delighted with this purchase which has already been used in making a set of cupboard shelves - without the need for a recharge!
