Perfectly cut lawn
The hardened and sharpened precision blade provides the perfect cut and finish, whilst its ‘LeafCollect’ edges allow you to collect Autumn leaves with ease. The integrated rear roller also gives your lawn a lovely striped effect.
Comfortable Ergoflex handles
Ergonomically designed and adjustable handles help to improve body posture and reduce strain on your arms and back while mowing.
Cutting edge precision
With inset front heels and extended grass combs the Rotak 40 Ergoflex can cut grass growing close to or over the edge of your lawn. This ensures that no uncut grass is left behind even when cutting up against flower beds, walls or paths, reducing the need for trimming.

Top customer reviews
We're impressed by general build quality and the amount of power, it being able to slice through longish damp grass with no real slow-down of the motor.
It is also pretty easy to adjust cutting height, which is done all four wheels at once. Although I would have preferred a nice beefy knob to twist instead of a lever to yank, it works well enough.
The mower also cuts well to the edges of lawns, the rear roller allowing it to over-sail flower beds by a small amount, while the front wheels being inset makes for a relatively close trim to walls and fences.
We also approve very much of the grass-box capacity, which is not just big (50 litres) but is actually filled up pretty well in use by the clippings being delivered right into the back of it. I want to emphasise that this is the first time I have seen grass collection quite so good in any rotary type mower. Usually it is necessary to repeatedly lift off the box and tamp the clippings down and backwards in order to make room for more, but it really isn't necessary with this mower's design. Moreover, if you want to check how full the box is getting, you can lift the spring flap door which rests along the top of the box, and look inside. And, if you really MUST squash the clippings back a bit, you can do so through that opening.
We also like the switch controls, which require two buttons to be pressed when starting to mow. This is usual safety feature in electric mowers of this type, but once it is running you need only hold one switch down, and you have got a choice of four separate ones, all of them light and comfortable to hold pressed for long periods if needed.
In storage the method for folding down the handle is OK, but not great. While there are quick release cam levers to allow the top section to swing over and down, there is nothing to secure it there when it arrives. This is made more inconvenient by the power cord.. (about which more later.)
It does help that the mower is surprisingly light for its standard of construction, and that there is a second lifting handle for actual carrying moulded into the canopy close to the point of balance. You can hold it up with one hand, and steady it with the other, so getting it into the boot of a car is no real problem, and I'm guessing that a woman or young teenager could do it.
Okay. That is the good stuff... but there are a couple of things to be aware of:-
First off, that excellent grass-box is delivered in three pieces, and they are not too easy to put together. Assembly is done by pressing together multiple moulded click- lock catches all at once. Moreover, you HAVE to be careful to get them ALL lined up and initially engaged before the final 'smack' to get it together... because if any of those special moulded-on catches are MIS-aligned, I am not sure that it would be possible to get the closed ones apart to dismantle the box and have another go. You have been warned! I think I saw the danger in time, but only because of the helpful comments of previous reviewers having been posted here. My thanks to those people.
So that is the grass box... now onto the power cord... There are two things wrong with the power cable.
1) At 10 metres length, it is too short.. there should be another three, maybe five metres.
2) Unlike every other electric mower I have used, the power cord of this mower cannot be detached and wound up separately from the machine. This design quirk is more of an inconvenience than I would have thought, particularly in that it makes bringing the mower to the job, and putting it away again, more difficult than it needs to be. The cord is heavy while the mower is relatively light so the handling of something that has to remain, in effect, an ASSEMBLY, is made awkward, especially as there is NO provision for spooling the power-cord onto the mower to hold it for you like on an upright vacuum cleaner, for instance.
In fact, this cord thing has turned out to be annoying enough to me that I'm obliged to do something about it. Therefore, I mean to buy an appropriate garden-type electrical line connector and break-out the power cord close to the mower. Presumably, while I am at it, I might as well buy a 15 metre chunk of cable and replace the too short cable that came with the machine... Hmmm... which means wiring a plug on it as well.. (sigh)
Final point: There is supposed to be a three-year warrantee on this machine, but I have not been able to discover how to register for it. Considering how quickly the previous machine (different make) which this Bosch replaces fell apart, I would quite like to have my extended warrantee... (??)
So there it is. I hope this has been helpful to any potential buyers. My four star rating instead of five is in view of the "short"-comings of the power cord. Also, the price I paid on an Amazon lightning deal was only £109.99 with free shipping... which I think was a very good deal indeed. In some places I have seen this same model mower selling for approximately £100 MORE.... so all in all I am pretty happy.
The mower comes in a heavy duty box and requires a little construction but this is simple. The quality is as expected and the mower looks and feels durable.
The important aspects though are that this mower literally rips through the grass even though it was long and a little wet, the cutting blade is totally adjustable but I found that grade 1 and 2 were much too short.
The finished cut was even and looked professional without any torn areas etc. The mower is east to operate and the hand position is comfortable and the push/pull action is smooth and virtually resistance free.
The mower collects the grass well, however I found the cutting performance is degraded once the collector is full, which is like an indication of such.
I am very impressed with my purchase and happy with the price tag.
