Quality product that does exactly what it promises. Very simple to use. Accuracy and repeatability seems to be very good and you can measure up a job for materials in a fraction of the time it would take using a steel tape. I still use a tape before cutting any timber etc., but for many jobs the accuracy is sufficient and much better than the old ultrasonic type..
The rangefinder will measure in metric or imperial, and will calculate areas and volumes in addition to linear measurements. It will also measure from either the front or back of the device, selectable by a button.
I haven't used it outdoors very much, so I'm unable to comment on whether the target spot is visible in average light - however, if you are reasonably accurate in the direction you point it, the rangefinder will still work in full sunlight - you just won't see the spot. Red laser-viewing glasses are available at extra cost if this could be an issue.
The rangefinder feels robust and has rubber pads for a better grip. There is provision for one of the camera-type lanyards at one end, but no lanyard is supplied and it isn't documented in the instructions. Nevertheless it IS there and may save the unit from being dropped on site.
A simple soft case is supplied which has a belt loop.
