The Bosch glue sticks (£4.99 for 10), according to Bosch, measure 7.0mm The actual size is 7.2mm. The Silverline glue sticks (£4.99 for 100), are shown as measuring 7.2mm and are actually 7.0mm and although they still fit in the glue pen, they will fall out if the glue pen is held upright. Once you have used the pen for a minute or so, the glue sticks are held in the pen and won't fall out.
The best results are gained by using the more expensive Bosch branded gluesticks.

Working from a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery, this is a great tool when you need hot-melt gluing capability without a cumbersome power cord! In use the design fits quite nicely in the medium/larger sized hand, it feels light enough (it weighs 142gm) yet seems very well made, and it'll rest on its' side on a table without a stand and a minimum risk of surface burn - although some care is obviously needed.

The GluePen heats up in a very quick 15 seconds, and although the glue nozzle can seem a little short/stubby, accurate placement of the glue is possible: With very little practice, the pen can be used to apply a "spot" or consistent "line" of adhesive of up to maybe 2mm width. Bosch claim their glue sticks are suitable for bonding paper, cardboard, wood, textile, leather, cork, mosaic tile, glass, metal, stone and many heat-tolerant plastics (not polystyrene or soft PVC) - they've certainly worked well for me with many of these materials. There's very good adhesion and little after-drip using Bosch 7mm "Milky" A03 high-strength glue sticks made for this Pen (4 sticks are included in the box), but these are disappointingly expensive at 50p per 7mm x 150mm stick when bought separately ("Clear" A04 lower-strength glue sticks also available). The melt temperature is 170c with a bond time of between 50 and 120 seconds, allowing some repositioning of the glued materials before the adhesive fully sets.

Firstly let me dispel a few myths!!!

If you want to re attach the roof to your house, stick a spoiler to your car, repair a broken lawnmower, stick your child's head back on or re fix a broken shower head, this device is not for you!

Hot glue guns, by their very nature, have many limitations and if you have a situation where a specialist glue is required do your own research and find the right product. Horses for courses.

As far as hot glue guns are concerned this is one of the best!

Accurate dispensation of glue, no dribbles, dries in seconds and no leaking after the machine has been used,

Am I the only one who puts in a new glue stick only to find the remnants all over the bench five minutes later with strands of glue all over the place? Not with this gun with Bosch glue!

USE BOSCH GLUE. EVEN IF IT COSTS MORE!!!

Don't be tempted to buy cheap glue. It will clog the thing up!

Also why don't they make a mains glue gun that heats up in 15 seconds instead of the usual 5 minutes?

They then take 30 minutes to cool down!!!!

I have a business involving the installation of digital decoders and repair of model railway locomotives. Before you brand me as an "Anorak" I should say that my interest is solely on the basis of electro/mechanical/technical repairs and not taking train numbers or standing in railway stations getting wet.

This device has increased my productivity and boosted my profits!

If you understand it's limitations you cannot lose with this device.

As an added bonus my wife uses it for Craft projects and loves it.

No technical stuff here.

It is what it is. A tool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Buy one immediately!!!

I count 5 different ways to hold this glue pen effectively. They all mirror for left handedness so that makes 10 different ways. I'm sure this could become one of those case studies they proudly hold up in anthropomorphology classes at university in years to come. It's such a clever design on many levels.

I have a sneaky suspicion this device is actually made by a company called Steinel (check out the Steinel Neo 1). Steinel are a very well regarded German manufacturer of various professional level tools, for example they make the best pro level hot air guns in the market, although they have price tags to match!

You can hold this pen nearer the tip for precision glueing, or you can hold it further up for easily applying larger areas. The nozzle is the neatest i've ever used, you can be very accurate. There are no drips since when you let go of the button, it sucks glue from the tip back into the heating chamber.

The included glue sticks are very good, but they're also very expensive. Depending on your usage, you may prefer to buy the large bags of 7mm sticks from China for a few pounds since the Bosch branded 7mm sticks are very expensive. Although in their defence, i will say they make the best hot glue bond i've seen without using one of those super high temp guns.

I love that you press the button, the light flashes for 15 seconds then you're ready to go, that's it! No faffing about. I love that i can take this to the field for repairs to my RC planes without needing a power source. I love that there's no wire trailing off and knocking things about my workbench even at home.

I wouldn't purchase this if you regularly need large volumes of glue since the precision tip will take too long to apply lots of glue.
