But some overhanging trees on my roof forced me to look around and I quickly settled on this one after reading all the 5 star reviews. All I can say is this chainsaw is AMAZING.
It is quick and easy to assemble with no tools. Other reviewers have pointed out that the diagrams in the booklet are not very clear but after a couple of minutes I had it figured out. Each section of the chain has a small arrow on it, you simply slot the chain in to the chainsaw bar with the arrows at the top facing forward (away from you). You then place the excess chain over the sprocket on the chainsaw and screw on the plastic shield to keep it all in place. The chain is then tightened by rotating the red ring in the opposite direction. I was literally up and running in less than 5 minutes.
Using it is a dream (and a lot of fun!). It feels very light and is (relatively speaking) very quiet compared to petrol ones I've heard. I used it for 2 hours right outside my son's bedroom window and he never woke up once. The saw went through branches up to 8" thick in seconds like there was nothing there. Impressive and scary at the same time!
The chain did bounce off twice but I soon realised this was down to my error and nothing to do with the design of the chainsaw.
And like most reviewers have commented, you will need to buy a litre of oil before using as the amount supplied is dismal.
I have no reservation in recommending this chainsaw 100%.
After both blew, I decided to just buy a cheap chainsaw as it couldn't be any worse. In fact this is better than both for just cutting logs for the woodburner. It has a 2 year warranty, is far cheaper and is much easier to use. Why? The body is lighter, has a boxy shape that sits better in the hand. The deadmans handle where you have to hold the on/off and lockoff switches simultaneously is a lot lighter to do when you are using the saw for a while. Also has much longer cable (the Jonsered had half a metre!)If it packs up within 2 years, I have the warranty, if after that, I am still ahead compared to the more expensive traditional chainsaw brands.
