This is the first book of Heather Burnside I have read and I loved it from start to finish.Adele and her brother Peter had a terrible childhood.Brought up by a violent alcoholic father and a very weak mother. Can't wait for the second book in this trilogy

Loved this book. There is nothing like being gripped from the beginning to the end and that is what happened. You feel every emotion and truly feel as though you are involved in the world of the characters. More of the same please!!

Once again a fantastic read by Burnside. This booked kept me hooked from beginning to end. The characters were so believable and it was heartbreaking one minute then followed by humour. I look forward to reading the next book in the trilogy and can't wait to find out how the storyline develops. I would recommend this book and others by this author as fantastic reads.

This was quite a good read and was mainly about domestic abuse and violence within the home and the long term effects on the family. I'm afraid the outcome was always inevitable and I could see it coming throughout..there was no surprise at the end.

Overall I got to enjoy the characters, but despite a fiery end it took a long time in the build up. It looks like the story is set to continue and I will likely read the next book.

Not brilliant, I expected more, good enough, but still not a patch on Martina Cole, I could put it down, and not be in a hurry to start reading it again.
