Borderlands 2 was always going to be bigger. Given the success of the Sleeper hit original. And, unsurprisingly here is the GOTY version and to say it's worth getting is to underplay the value and potential hours of fun to be had her.
We go back to Pandora with 5 new characters (originally four but this set includes the necromancer which we'll go into later)again looking for 2the vault". This time around though the planet has been taken over by a sociapath called Handsome Jack, who is the head of Hyperion, the fictitious weapon maker of the original. And the vault, well the 4 old playable characters are now allied together as NPC comrades who eventually talk you into fighting for peace and the defeat of Jack
Again whilst the campaign is solid as a single player it is really designed for co-op and this has been massively improved on. Not that co-op on the original was bad but here it is more smooth and satisfying. There is also a more varied environment with toxic caves and frozen zones to really show off the cartoonish visuals BL fans love.
But the real deal maker is the DLC though
The first is Captain Scarlet, a pirate inspired quest but with more of a return of the Jedi twist with sand skiff al la jabba the Hutt and a hilarious reference to Hunter L Thompson fear and loathing in LA style
Mister Torgue's.. is slightly similar to Moxxis Underdome except not rubbish. This also has proper missions and all give XP. No more fighting for nearly an hour with only a trophy on the XMB to show for it
The best DLC though is Tiny Tina's, a dungeons and dragons style caper. It also is the most hilarious
The Hunters DLC is not quite as good as the rest but overall there is a good variety here and on the whole slightly better than Borderlands original 4 (though we are including the aforementioned Underdome.
If you haven't played Borderlands 2 yet this is a great excuse to go out and buy this great value set.

Love it. It's my best "couch co-op game" (split screen), but online co-op is also a lot of fun. And that's the best word to describe "Borderland 2". It's FUN, LOUD, and require EXCESSIVE use of CAPITAL LETTERS (just like one of the gun manufacturers in the game).
I don't like that much of FPS, but this game (a RPS, as "Role Playing Shooter") feels different.
Of course, it has it's flaws, like loading screens every now and then, pop in textures (only at the start of each area), but who cares when you're having so much FUN???

The GOTY Edition gives you a lot of the expansions (not all, though), and two additional classes of characters (six, total). You'll need plenty of time to complete quests, gather loot, sell and trade items, complete challenges, earn ranks, bonus, skills, and become the Ultimate BADASS Vault Hunter (or the "best minion ever"... it's your choice).

It's highly addictive so... KEEP OUT, you've been WARNED.

(PS - The latest update gives you the option to turn on "colorblind mode", which is a very interesting feature, helps to identify the level of rarity of the loot you can gather with more than just its colours)

Seriously, this is a brilliant game & at this price great value - comes with most of the major DLCs including Tiny Tina's roleplaying game. I had this on my Mac & PC via Steam & decided to get the PS3 version so my gaming fanatic son & I could get some father & son time in, & we spent pretty well all of Saturday & Sunday playing the first 12 or so levels on a variety of different characters. We both agree this is way better than the first Borderlands, and that was an epic game.

Got the original game for Christmas, and by the time I had one character to Level 20 I loved it enough to buy this 'expansion pack'. Seems far better value than buying the DLC individually.

Of the additional areas, I've only really explored the Captain Scarlett content so far, but hugely impressed.

Also started a mechromancer, which is great for casual play.

Can't fault this, or the game itself. Would recommend to anyone.

Finally after a long strain of games like COD which take themselves far too seriously comes borderlands and borderlands 2.
Got into Borderlands quite by accident playing 2nd player to my OH who kept getting stuck quickly became obsessed.

Fun story lines. Awesome weapons. Challenging at times. Looks great. Pure enjoyment. Each add on pack included gives hours and hours extra game play/maps and missions.

Not putting a game synopsis because 2k have already done it better than I could.

Played and finished this game originally on Xbox 360 and decided seen as I didn't bother getting the dlc to get this and replay the game. Was still as fun second time round as the first, love this game on my personal top 10 list and with all the dlc, brilliant.

Game of the year edition is great. You get loads with it and hour and hours of gaming! Love the gritty cartoon graphics-which usually are not my thing. I play cod black ops too mainly now, but this is a nice change. Not as involved as something like skyrim, which is also a nice alternative. This game is funny, with loads of stupid sayings in it- like "i want you to be my meat bicycle" is what some yob was screaming at me the other day before I blew him to kingdom come, and not in a George Michael kind of way! Well worth the cash, it's bright and they've fixed some of the annoying bits from the last game. Only drawback is there are just too many guns....like hundreds!
