About the Author

Graham Robson is a world authority on Triumph cars, with which Standard was linked for many years, He lived in or close to Coventry for many years, and was well-versed in Standard history long before he began researching this book. No other author knows as much about the company and its financial, geographical, and technical heritage, and no other author has met, interviewed and got to know so many of the important personnel who were involved in Standard for its final thirty or forty years. Graham has written more than 150 books, including several definitive titles on Triumph and Standard-Triumph subjects.

Format: Hardcover
Having previously had an interest in one short period of Standard cars, this book was exactly what I wanted in terms of understanding the history of the marque, the key cars produced, and some of the personalities involved. The text is clear and concise, with good photographs and well laid out. There is occasional repetition between chapters, but that allows you to dip into any one area of interest and still follow the thread of the story. From small beginnings, to becoming such a major part of the Coventry landscape, through the morphing into Triumph and eventual decline as British Leyland, this book explains it all. Definitely recommended.

Graham Robson has done a typically professional job here. Well researched with plenty of illustrations to make it an interesting book to read. Being produced by a proper automotive publisher helps here.

A comprehensive look back at one of the most important British manufacturers, that, for some reason, like Austin isn't particularly well catered for in the motoring press. Graham Robson has done justice to the memory, as well as the history of this company, and the gentleman responsible for its success. I don't hesitate to recommend this title.

Great book and lovely period photos etc, A must for anyone interested in the boom years of the British Motor Industry and it's sad demise.
Some grammar and spelling mistakes/poor editing can be distracting but not enough to spoil a good read.
