"Book and I are now the best of friends ..." Enter the world of Tristan Lambert, an aspiring young author who, having found some early success with his first novel, finds himself suffering from writer's block. Bored and disillusioned with the empty promise of the new millennium, he cannot seem to find the inspiration he is looking for, until one day he discovers a mysterious antique shop. Here he meets "Book", his seductive new companion, whose mesmerising influence gradually threatens to take over his life.

I ordered this book after being drawn by the cover(it's even better in hand)Its an intriguing title & once you start reading you have to carry on.It has an absorbing plot, darkly psychological & full of twists. It has echoes of The picture of Dorian Grey by Oscar Wilde in which the lead character becomes obsessed with a painting, but in this novel the protagonist Tristian Lambert becomes obsessed with a book he finds in an antique shop.I recommend it to people looking for a contemporary classic. Will be reading it again Five stars

Once I had started to read this book I could not put it down. The plot and characters draw you in to their world and you just have to read the next page and then the next! A dark and disturbing thriller with twists and turns. I have recommended the book to many friends and family. An impressive first novel.
