This is a twofer combining two of Badlry's 70s LPs 'It Ain't Easy' and 'Everything Stops For Tea' both of which had a side each produced by Rod Stewart and Elton John, who both started their careers in John's band. The record also contains additional unreleased tracks, alternate takes, live recordings and radio spots making this a great buy. Baldry was a pioneer of blues in Britain in the late 50 sand early 60s but by the time of the blues boom in the late 60s he'd moved on to soul and cabaret. These were two good releases at the time and I think they still sound good now with a good mixture of blues, folk, soul, gospel as well as more modern songs by Randy Newman, John Kongos etc. John handles all the the different kinds of material in his stride and the band - including Ronny Wood, Caleb Quaye, Ian Armit, Micky Waller, Sammy Mitchell, Davey Johnstone etc - swings along behind him. Great stuff!

HASH(0x8ab4dccc) out of 5 stars Listening to British Blues History 13 April 2014

This is actually a repackaged release of 2 albums It Ain't Easy and Everything Stops For Tea. Baldry was considerd by many the Grandfather of British Blues, getting his start in the ate fifties, before their was a substantial Blues Scene in England. The production on both these albums is handled by Rod Stewart and Elton John, two performers who worked with Baldry before they were famous ( The John part of Elton's name is in deference to Long John Baldry) These albums show an enthusiasm for the music that I found infectious. I really like these albums i was great to be able to get them again after they were unavailable for so long. Yay!

This is a good CD of LJB's early work with such greats as Elton John. The first CD, in my view, has better tunes than the second, but both are good.
