Bones returns for a dramatic eighth season with more twists and turns than before. Bones is inspired by real-life forensic anthropologist and novelist Kathy Reichs. Dr. Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel) is a highly skilled forensic anthropologist who works at the Jeffersonian Institute in Washington, D.C., and writes novels on the side. When the standard methods of identifying a body are useless (when the remains are so badly decomposed, burned or destroyed), law enforcement calls on Brennan for her uncanny ability to read clues left behind in the victim's bones. While most people can't handle Brennan's intelligence, her drive for the truth or the way she flings herself headlong into every investigation, Special agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) of the FBI's Homicide Investigations Unit is an exception. A former Army sniper, Booth mistrusts science and scientists--the "squints," as he calls them--who pore over the physical evidence of a crime. But even he cannot deny that the combination of his people-smarts and Brennan's scientific acumen makes them a formidable duo.

I thought I would find it boring with Bones pregnant and then mothering, but NOT AT ALL, it is as good as the previous seasons,
if not better. The actors in this series are all remarkable and the screenplay very entertaining

Bones is a good series, very enjoyable.
Quality of some of the DVD's is disappointing though.
On disc three there is a scratch on it, which means I have lost the end of one episode and the beginning of the next episode.
Disc four was slightly warped and the disc skipped the very end of one episode.
I am unable to return the set as I have opened and played them ( I have been told that I cannot return them if I have removed the cellophane and played the DVD). I didn't realise the discs were damaged till I played them.
If it wasn't for the damage to two of the discs I would have given the set 5 stars.

More great episodes of a great show. Many crime shows have generic, forgettable characters, but Bones delivers interesting individuals, humour, interesting forensic science and clever plotting. Enjoyed every episode - except for a fly-on-the-wall episode that had a different style, like a reality show documentary.

Great stuff!.

I have been watching Bones from the very beginning and have yet to be disappointed by any of the seasons shown thus far the show deals with violence and death but in a very light hearted way. The storylines unfold in a very watchable way and all cast members fit very well into their characters and their areas of expertise within the show. Season 8 lives up to the standards set in previous seasons and I have no hesitation in awarding five stars for its entertainment value and look forward to season 9 when it appears on our screens.

I haven't seen series 8 yet, I wait for the DVD release so I can watch it all in one go. Therefore this is not a review just another opinion so when you click on this page or search for Bones series 8, you don't see a single one star rated review. I very much enjoyed series 7, and can forgive it being short due to the real life pregnancy of Emily Deschanel. I don't believe the standard has dropped, and I very much look forward to enjoying another series.

I rarely feel the need to defend anything, but I just feel the criticism aimed at the last couple (few) series of this show is completely unwarranted.

By Mr. D. L. Rees TOP 1000 REVIEWERVINE VOICE on 19 Dec. 2014
Format: DVD
Season 8 shows no signs of flagging, the awesomely gifted laboratory team continuing to help solve murders no matter how squelchy the victims' remains. Whatever the state of the skull, Angela will reconstruct the face, husband Hodgins deducing much from any creatures wriggling inside. Quirky interns ("squinterns") offer much expertise, delightful Cam ensuring all runs smoothly.

Central as ever is Temperance Brennan - work obsessed, unswervingly rational, no people skills and hilariously humourless. (When Booth suggests Paris for a vacation, she is delighted - a chance to check out the sewers.)

Despite all the gore and certain issues most serious, the series is often very funny indeed. This perfect blend is surely the secret of its success (along with superb scripts and a fine cast). As ever Brennan and Agent Booth make a great team, the domestic interludes with daughter Christine a delightful addition. Also an increasing asset is "shrink" Sweet, he often giving valuable insights into a murderer's mind.

24 episodes. Perhaps one or two misfires. (Some may have doubts about Ep.9 where everything is seen from the corpse's point of view.) With particular impact is Ep.6. Squinterns are called in to solve cold cases. Initially they are competing, but one discovery unites all - the outcome very moving indeed.

Genuinely chilling is the ongoing storyline concerning psychopathic killer Christopher Pelant. Brilliantly hacking, altering evidence and spying on all, he is determined to make the team suffer. All are in danger. Are we soon to mourn the loss of one we like so much?

Some may find the music unnecessarily intrusive, but the show's strengths totally overwhelm. Modest bonuses include cast answering questions from fans.

good storylines and loads of humour keep me loving Bones

The whole cast is good and the continuous interaction between characters stops it getting stale as it might if the whole focus was just on the two main characters
