I really liked book one in this series, and would have enjoyed this one if there hadn't been the addition of gay lovers throughout. It might come as a surprise to the author, but not all of us care to read about boy's kissing and cuddling etc; There is a separate section for people who enjoy reading gay books, and this isn't it.

I have a number of friends who happen to be gay, I am not. It's a matter of choice. It seems particularly inappropriate to me in a book that is primarily aimed at young people. I think there should at least be some warning about the "gay" material, in the book description.

I know this is all supposed to be acceptable these days, but the vast majority of folk are heterosexual by choice. It's up to individuals to make their own choices, and we are still free to decide for ourselves.

Either state your preferences outright in the book description, or leave sex out of the stories please. I hate that it was kind of sneaked in by the back door. We don't all want to read about it, and this spoiled my reading of a book I would otherwise have enjoyed.

HASH(0x8a4be408) out of 5 stars to much teen drama! 4 Mar. 2014

I devour fantasy books at a rate of about 4 a week normally. Unfortunately I couldn't finish this book. I liked the first book in the series, but the second book seems focused around a teenage relationships and finding love for the first time. The main character is a boy, yet somehow exhibits all the traits of a poorly written teenage girl love story. I made it about 40% of the way into the book. Hoping the insanity would stop. He loves the guy we get it move on please. Instead he spends most of his time with inward dialog about his concerns or talking to his teenage friends about it.

No actual plot progression for most of the book, at 40% in only about 2% moves the plot forward. There has been more progress about a new character on the other side of the world than the main characters. I'm sure this is a set up for the integration of the two characters, but still one out of every 20 pages may talk about moving forward with their plans. But most of that is in the form of meetings where nothing actually happens.

I will probably finish this off, or at least try to after I take a break and read another book.

Great character development, Poor plot development (talking about planning to do something isn't plot development, is it?).
Too much DRAMA!!!
HASH(0x8b218078) out of 5 stars It's okay... 22 Jun. 2014

But at the end of the first book the story became a blatant social issue outlet rather than the fantasy story it was at birth. The author seemed to lose the subtle message portrayed in the first book about being yourself, standing up for yourself and understanding that not everything is as it seems and demanded the reader take notice of today's social issues. I prefer my stories to be stories and appreciate the sublt messages that cause the reader to ponder. I will not likely purchase a subsequent book because the emphasis shifted from a great fantasy story to a social education.
HASH(0x8b216f60) out of 5 stars Dragon Linked 10 May 2014

The bonding between beings, real or imaginary, is a proven phenomena which occurs in and between many divergent species besides humans. To have imagination and science linked through well written story telling is absolutely marvelous! Even though I am a much older person than what I perceive to be the intended audience of this story, let it be said that transcending age, gender and social attitudes is a remarkable ability rarely seen in the writings for this genre. Congratulations to you and your "staff"! ! ! LJ Anderson

Reason I read this book was because first one was so good and showed love between dragon and human. The second book was boring and mostly only evolved around people relationship with eachother. The third book really good so far so I just skip second book and go to the 3rd book
HASH(0x8a81a024) out of 5 stars great series! 24 Mar. 2015

I love this series, one of the best things is that the hero is very sympathetic and loves a boy who loves him. It is handled very naturally and in a matter of fact manner with there being heterosexual couples also in the story. This is a nice advance in teen literature.
