Their influence has been astouning at bringing all the Polari to the nation and filling us Brits with our favourite style of humour- the double entendre.
From the first moment their nasal cackles reath the ears to the final bow on the second CD a Bona listen and no mistake ducky.
Hugh Paddick and Kenneth Williams. Such fabulous, witty, timeless, irreverent fun.
This is the second of the 'Jules & Sandy' clipettes from Round the Horne. Both CDs are twofers (double cd sets), thus represent excellent length for your laughter. I bought these as a result of a laugh-out-loud Polari clip in the current British Library exhibition on Evolving English.
Many of the extracts work not on double entrendres - that would be too easy - but on triple entrendres. Some comedy of the 50s and 60s haven't aged well: this, like fine wine, gets better. Settle back to enjoy excellent comedy writing (thankyou, Barry Took & Marty Feldman), whip-quick reactions from Hugh Paddick and Kenneth Williams - and the knowledge that laughter's good for your health.
Full of daft situations such as Julian and Sandy becoming lawyers, hairdressers or owners of the "Lazy Bona Ranch" or television 'moguls' showing such delights as "Thunderpalones" or "Bona - nanza", this offering is a delight from beginning to end and a fitting tribute to those wonderful purveyors of radio comedy, Messrs Horne, Williams and Paddick.
May they all lie sweetly at rest, and laughter ring forever through the Halls of Paradise. (that's your actual grammar...........)
Deserves 20 stars.

Love Julian and Sandy used to listen to them when I was a puppy on Round the Horne.Published 8 months ago by Fraser Bear
Absolute genius. So much more to Kenny Williams than the Carry On films. Hugh Paddock (who plays Julian) is more than a match for KW.Published 10 months ago by Count Crawfard
