Reading this book I feel like I'm in conversation with the author. A wealth of wisdom, yet so clearly and simply communicated that the pages seem to turn themselves.

I got very disappointed when I opened the book, the typeface is too small, the words are jammed, everything in the book looks cramped. I prefer to pay more and have a better book. Why would someone print this, it is really distasteful, unpleasant to look at, worst when you attempt to read it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant! 19 Feb. 2001
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
The Hakomi Method, created by Ron Kurtz, is a beautifully constructed experiential therapeutic process which incorporates the best of the last 100 or so years of psychotherapeutic study. It integrates Taoist and Buddhist Principles with Western Theory and the Body-Centered Wisdom of Alexander Lowen, John Pierrakos, Hector Prestera and others. I've been a therapist for over 16 years and the Hakomi Method has now become the main influence in my work. Ron's five principles: Mindfulness, Non-violence,Organicity, Unity and Mind-Body Wholism, insure not only change in a person's behavioral patterns, but in their soul as well. It is creative, effective and heartfelt. It is a pleasure to practice therapy this way. I highly recommend this book for anyone in the healing professions.

5.0 out of 5 stars You Are Welcome Here 4 Jun. 2008
By Kevin C. Brown - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Body-Centered Psychotherapy is a well written, informative, philosophical, to the point description of one of the most transformational psychotherapeutic approaches ever developed. Ron Kurtz is a true master of the art and explains his approach in understandable and enlightening ways. He blends humor with spontaneity, wit with genius and above all brings to life the compassion, care, and brilliance with which he approaches the work he so beautifully does. If you're at all interested in a therapeutic approach that has the capacity to actually heal at a deep level, lead to real psychological and often spiritual transformation, and maintain lasting change, this is an approach you should strongly consider learning more about. Cheers to Ron, to you, and to Hakomi!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hakomi 5 Nov. 2009
By Maria G. Valdes V - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Hakomi is a real transforming body psycotherapy. Ron is a real Teacher.
It has such a respectful, simple and beautiful way to help us be conscious and heal.
It is a powerful method that helps getting to know ourselves, our unconcious, our habits, our beliefs, it helps us awaken, see how we create our unnecesary suffering. And also helps to give each other the respect and love we need.
It is a way that helps the love that is inside all of us want to come out naturally and be given to each other. Altough the book is not new and the method has grown too, it is still vigent and it is a revolutionary and fun way to heal and help others be awaken and free.
It has embeded Budhist and Taoist principles.

And the best of all!
It is a therapy that really works!
If you really do the work, you can change deeply without trying to change and transform your life.

I am a living proof of the miracle of Hakomi : )and i can only recomend you try it!

Blessings for all

I had the pleasure of working with this book during my training as a Hakomi therapist.
I recommend it to all that are working in any therapeutic field, be it counseling, psychotherapy or natural therapies.
It shows how to deepen the therapeutic process in a way that far surpasses any other therapeutic tool.
It is also a greet book for learning how to interact with others of all ages in everyday life.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best books around regarding body centered work 19 Sept. 2013
By Meggo - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Because Ron Kurtz spent time with Moshe Feldenkrais, he truly "got" the impact of the body/mind interface. I'm a Feldenkrais teacher and have read most everything out there by everyone who claims to know something about "somatics" practices, many which have diminished this field of study & practice. There are way too many psychotherapists out there claiming things about the body/mind interface when they are clearly not grounded in their own bodies. Ron Kurtz knows what he's talking about. He lived it from the inside.
