Parker and Ben have been best friends for 6 years, determined to prove they can be friends without all the messy entanglements of attraction. They are each others go to person with anything happening in their lives, they even share an apartment. Everything is plain sailing with Parker in a long-term relationship and Ben being an utter ho, that is until Parker's boyfriend breaks up with her. Leading to a drunken striptease and admission to a lackluster love life leaves Ben viewing Parker in a completely different light.

Parker trusts Ben implicitly and having had up close and personal insight into his seduction skills embarks on a quest to find the heat she has been missing with her previous relationship. Ben and Parker can be friends with benefits to test the waters without letting messy things like emotions get in the way, RIGHT?

I have to be honest, I struggled with Ben for the first part of the story, his sowing of wild oats and general commitment-phobe persona did not endear him to me in the slightest. However, s the story progressed and we were able to see all of Ben's hidden insecurities and true feelings did I find myself more willing to approve of the romantic relationship building between Ben and Parker.

If only things were that simple. Conflicted emotions on both sides create added tension and friction between the pair, especially when they are too afraid to verbalise their growing feelings or rather unleashed dormant feelings to the other in fear of rejection. I hated the angst and tension caused by Ben and Parker not knowing where they stood with each other. I feel I should clarify there is no cheating involved on either side, thank god or I couldn't have coped.

I love friends-to-lovers romances and this was a great one!

Ben and Parker have been friends for six years. They hit it off from the moment they meet in college but have purely platonic feelings. They’re both gorgeous but have remained completely in the friend zone, and have lived together for years.

Then Parker’s boyfriend of five years breaks up with her. Parker resolves to be a female Ben – a love ‘em and leave ‘em type – who’s not really interested in relationships. However, she finds a flaw in this idea when she finds that she’s bored by every guy she meets, which leads her to realise that what she needs is someone she can trust, talk to and have fun with. And, he’s right under her nose.

Ben revolts at the idea, at first, but then a kissing bet completely turns the tide. And, thus begins their friends-with-benefits relationship, vowing that it wouldn’t change anything.

I found this story really easy to read and really quite funny, as Ben and Parker have such a solid and true friendship and always there for one another. I loved the chemistry between them, their struggle to remain normal, and the second guessing that goes on in both their heads (dual POV), which complete troubles the waters between them.

As another reviewer has said, this is not a new storyline, but the author instils it with humour, heartache and, ultimately, happiness.

I really really liked this book.
The relationship between Ben and Parker was brilliant and funny, at the beginning I found myself laughing at their banter.
I loved that they were best friends but even from the beginning you wonder why they are just friends and not more. To me they are the perfect couple.
This story flows and has some great supporting characters.
Towards the end I felt that the back and forth will they won't they went on for longer than it should, it was the same thing over and over and I started saying out loud, oh hear we go again :-(.
The book is in both Ben and Parkers POV so you understand them both really well.

I do have one point to make, when they went to workers parents house for dinner her mum says the Enchiladas are n the oven BUT on the way home they talk about how they had extra servings of Lasagne, how the shell did they go from eating Mexican to Italian in a few pages, did I not get a joke or something or did this go unnoticed during the edits!!! :-)

This is a book I would defy read again and recommend.
This book also has a HEA :-)

Gah, I loved this one! Friends to lovers + insecure manwh0re = My kinda angsty story. Sometimes I like torture myself and this book delivered on all counts, I couldn't put this book down.

Parker Blanton and Ben Olsen are roomies, and they have been best friends since they met in their first year of college. They are now 24 and never once have they considered taking their friendship to a different level. Parker is dating another man and Ben isn't looking for a serious commitment so their situation is perfect.

When Parker finds herself dumped and feeling fragile, she turns to the only man, other than her dad, that's always been there for her, Ben. That is where the lines are blurred and the consequences of which send their lives on a whole new path.
_ _ _ _

I don't know what it is about Lauren Layne, but she manages to make me smile and cry and everything in between, I had serious butterflies reading this book and to me that is the sign of a successful 5 Star read. The only reason I knocked off the half star was because of Parker and her dumb decisions, but I'll let that one slide because overall I thought she was a great heroine who really only wanted the best for Ben, as he did her.

This is not a unique story, but LL tells it well and I thoroughly enjoyed reading every word.

This is a standalone contemporary romance, told in dual POV.
