I bought this for my '09 Mac Pro in order to get continuity working. I have also an 5th Gen iPod touch.
Continuity allows Apple products to exchange documents live, allows sms texting and phone calls from a mac via an iPhone/ipad/ipod touch.

Since continuity relies on Bluetooth 4 some older macs are excluded, mine included. For some older Macs there is a patch available that allows continuity features.

There is a compatibility chart on that web site.
I downloaded and ran the patch and inserted the dongle as indicated.
The patch recognised the dongle and I have now got continuity working.
I can't test the calls through mac and sms text messages from macs features as I don't have an iphone but the airdrop and hand off features work great and I can't see why the other features won't work.
My magic trackpad and mighty mouse work though the dongle without problems either.
A small hint sign out and into iCloud on both the Mac and the iOS device after installation to get continuity to work.

I bought this because I was looking for a bluetooth dongle that was compatible with Mac OS X. Specifically I wanted it to work with Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2. My research lead me to this device because it uses a chipset that is compatible (and used by Apple) with OS X. Basically when you get such a compatible device you won't get any problems with it at all. You won't have to install any driver for it. It will just work and when it arrived I plugged it in and it did just that. It worked.

Cosmetically its tiny and completely unobtrusive. I am very happy with this device and would reccomend it for anyone that has OS X and doesn't want any problems. Also a very attractive price too.

Honestly, this works quite well. I just don't need it, because I realised it wasn't my macbook pro that was messed up it was the peripherals I was using that were messing up my computer. Otherwise, this product works nicely and right out of the box. In the reviews it was hard to know it works with apple's osX and it definitely does (for anyone needed a mac compatible version)!!

I bought this for use with my Hackintosh. It works straight out of the box so no worries with compatibility :).

Using it with my Apple Magic Mouse flawlessly. Be aware that mounting it inside of the case on an internal USB port will severely affect signal

Macbook pro 09, greyed out? done all troubleshoots possible, but bluetooth still in there. Get this, it works, not many do, but this is great for macbook pro bluetooth problems. I am not sure if does later years, can't see why not.

Currently using this on windows 8.1 and Max OS X Yosemite, my mouse is literally less than 1 meter away and when moving it roughly every 30 seconds-1 minute the connectivity lags, the moving of the mouse goes slow then picks up again to instant connectivity, this was a great waste of money including paying loads for the magic mouse in the first place, Iv'e resorted to a wired mouse that doesn't unfortunately have the gestures that makes life a lot easier.

Nice, small USB adapter. I've used it with Linux without any problems. In Windows 7, Internet Explorer (including Windows' taskbar) sometimes crashes when I try to connect to Bluetooth devices (e.g. mouse). I'm unsure if this is due to a hardware (Bluetooth adapter), its software driver, or Windows' fault.

Excited to build our mackintosh we eagerly awaited the last component, a bluetooth dongle. So we could use our trackpad and keyboard for the mac. Out of the box there were problems, we had to "break" the bluetooth dongle in order to get it to work, the board inside was installed incorrectly. An email was immediately sent to the seller and it has been about a month time waiting for a reply. No dice... Needless to say bad experience across the board for me with this device. Not to mention it causes my trackpad to and keyboard to "stutter" or vomit letters all at once, and lastly the range on this is about 6ft. No more family movie night on dual monitor(TV) with the kids from the couch. Will be switching to an internal bluetooth card when it arrives.
Seller: C (because it at least made it to my doorstep)
