A cracking book - have been looking for something like this for a long time. It effectively bridges the gap between those books that are too simplistic or those that are too advanced for the average guitar player. It also gives equal weight to rhythm and lead, rather than playing down or even ignoring the importance of rhythm playing. Throw in a pleasing dose of music theory, blues guitar history and a CD chock full of examples to follow and you have one very good book indeed for the aspiring blues guitarist.

This is one brilliant handbook. It starts out with a history/update of the blues. There is an excellent, easy, but yet sufficiently comprehensive explanation of music theory. Then the work starts. The material is really polished and professional. I have already recommended this manual to one of my friends who has ordered it. The manual is essential for those wishing to understand and be able to play the blues to a good standard. It really is very good. It is the very best music book/course that I have seen and I would not be without it. If you are a BLUES devotee then you will never regret getting this manual!!!

IMO the best blues guitar book for advanced beginners/intermediate players and others from different stlyes.. I particularly like the longish historical info and the full rhythm , riff and lead sections with a range of useful styles, scales, licks and modes. Tends to encourage own exploration rather than slavish adherance to Tablature. Explanations are concise but easy to understand and are often backed up with real examples of the riff or scale being used. Some of these are quite good although no doubt standard to some. Atleast they get you playing more blues thn the standard dum de dum 2-4-5 -2 then 2/4 and back to...

Has in a very short time taught me more about blues playing in the round than any other book or online lesson, bar none.

Well recommended but you will need to have some prior guitar experience. I;ve been playing about a year , mainly chord based rhythm.

I was a bit worried when this arrived for it seemed all book and no do. However the more you delve and try not to get into the hardest part straight away the more information is packed into this quality produced hard bound book. Also the recordings are easy to follow. The one down side I would have like a bit more tablature to mess about with. We are all now so used to this in the guitar magazines. However for the price and the quality and easy to get some fun a good purchase me thinks. There is also a rather good discography to look and think about.

A nice to read and solid intro to blues. Well worth ten quid and there is plenty of solid info in this text. Good starter for me as I just started guitar.

An excellent book that anyone who wants to play the blues should have but it is not for the beginner. You will need to be playing for at least a year and be at the advanced beginner or the lower intermediate level to be able to use this book. Having said that I still thoroughly recommend it, especially since it has a decent ring binder format.
