moment of madness I purchased this, thirty quid for a plastic box. Be warned you cannot fit a double row (8) extension lead in it with typical plug shapes and sizes. They wanted me to pay to send it back to Germany... I assumed expensive so kept it to use as a plant pot! Don't do it!

I have a couple of these and found them to be of very limited use for most of my plugs and adaptors. It should be at least 5cm or so wider or taller so that the collection of sockets and plugs, etc, can lie flat with room to spare for leads or be supported upright for the same reasons. The lack of ventilation is a big problem, with any power adaptor generating at least some heat. There is a clear danger of over heating.

At least in my sitting room, it has helped tidy away a clutter of wires and plugs, but it's already crammed with only a few of the plugs able to be fitted inside before I can no longer get the lid on.

For a few centimetres and some ventilation holes more, this might be a good product. As it is, it isn't. It does look pretty when almost empty. Not so good with the lid half off.

Check the dimensions carefully. Its designed for American power strips and UK plugs are bigger. You'll be lucky to fit a double width UK power strip in, but a single width strip of about five sockets should fit.

Bought this to house my 8 way surgemaster plug. It's nowhere near big enough. The marketing claims that it'll house nearly any adapter, but clearly it doesn't. That may be the case in the US where the plugs are smaller and the cable often point straight out/upright.

The only extension lead that this box is suitable is the 'single row of sockets' type. Very few adapters of this type are longer than 4 ways. Making this a very expensive way of tidying up just 4 sockets.

Truth be told, its not even that much tidier, as the cables still trail across the floor, and the box itself is really nothing special. Its just a smooth plastic box at the end of the day. Its certainly not a revolutionary piece of furniture.

Expensive and disappointing. I don't understand the rave reviews on here.??

**Update**
Ok so I found a single strip 6 socket lead and have just used this in the cable box instead. To be fair it does look much tidier now, but the box is rammed with cabling and power bricks etc.. Hopefully the heat etc. won't be too much of a problem.? I've moved my (rather expensive) belkin surgemaster extension lead behind the TV instead. I'm feeling more generous so I'll promote it from 1 star to 3 stars. Its still way too expensive though. This should be c.£10-15.

Behind my TV was a rat's nest of cables from a games console, blu-ray player and TV box. Now tidy and clear. Have recommended it to everyone I've talked to - I'm geting boring. I will probably buy another for behind my computer.
One point: I had to use a different multi-plug because my original one was too big, best to check the dimensions.

I wanted to tidy the cables in my company office. I took the trouble to measure the ten outlet extension block to ensure it would fit into this cable box. When it came to it I discovered that the extension block no longer fitted when it had plugs in, at least not without twisting the extension block side on. With today's 13amp moulded plugs which have rigid cable exit glands the box is not wide enough. The other weakness is the sides of the box are quite flexible and if the leads exert any outward pressure on the box then the lid doesn't fit

For the amount of money this box cost I was expecting a lot more. No fan cooling or even vents, no clever system for managing the plugs/sockets nothing special at all. It is literally a plastic box with a slit in it.

It does a great job of hiding the cables - instead of a mess of plugs, sockets, power bricks etc I have a discreet black box in the corner but for what it is I would have expected a lot lower price. I now have need for another and I think i will look for a generic plastic container rather than invest in another bluelounge box

I was offered one of these as a gift and failed to immediately understand what advantage it offered other than as a means of hiding the rather ugly assemblage of plugs and sockets that we PC users are forced to use. I then began to see its limitations and potentially serious dangers.

A fairly simple computer set-up may include a PC, monitor, speakers, a printer and a router. That is five plugs for a start. Add a rechargeable mouse, USB Hub, perhaps a couple of external drives, a phone charger and that's another five. You may use a scanner and then there are other things that you may use such as a games console and a controller. You are beginning to see the point. One of these is probably insufficient and you may easily need three or four just for your PC. Then you may have a TV, Sky box, PVR, DVD or Blu-ray-player and possibly either a PowerLine adapter or network extender, speakers or speaker bar and you see the problem there - perhaps 6 or even more plugs, and that is a fairly basic set-up. One box would not be sufficient and the cumulative cost of several is beginning to look ridiculous.

I am assuming, probably incorrectly, that every device uses a standard UK 3-pin plug. I have some that need a further adapter as they came with US or European plugs and then is anything that uses an adapter plug, one where an expanded plug houses the components for a lower voltage output. Some are arranged such that, if you assume that the Earth connector is to the top, the cable comes from the bottom but some are the reverse and their cable comes out from the top. That would stretch the necessary width of the box from about 3 or 4 inches to at least 8 or 9!
