About the Author

Manga creator, writer and illustrator Kazue Kato was born in Tokyo on July 20, 1980. In 2000, at age 19, she won the prestigious Tezuka Award for her work Boku to Usagi (Rabbit and I) published in Akamaru Jump. From 2005 to 2006 her series Robo to Usakichi, a sci-fi adventure featuring a rabbit (again!) was published in the monthly magazine Shonen Sirius (Kodansha). Her latest series, Blue Exorcist, began in Jump Square in April of 2009. Kazue Kato has used a rabbit as a self-portrait in her author's notes since her debut, and her titles often have some relation to rabbits.

Blue Exorcist (Ao no Exorcist) volume 4 contains chapters 12 to 15 plus some bonus 4 panel comics.
It is rated T+ for older teen (16+) due to violence, suggestive situations and some adult themes.

Rin Okumura and his twin brother Yukio are the sons of Satan but they only found out about this after the man who raised them was killed by Satan. Unlike his twin brother, Rin has special powers in the form of blue flames. He enrolled in a special school which trains exorcists and found out that his twin brother is actually a teacher there. Now he wants to become strong enough to defeat Satan but first he has to learn how to control his powers and master his sword.

In volume 4, the training in the forest continues. The class joins together in hope of completing the task they were given. But unfortunately, Amaimon returns to once again pick a fight with Rin. Will Rin be able to protect his friends whilst holding back his flames?
Also in this volume, we meet Arthur Auguste Angel, the new Paladin. Straight away he tries to kill Rin and orders Mephisto to undergo questioning.

If you have watched the anime then you may have heard that at around episode 17 it starts to differ from the manga and goes off into an anime original storyline. I am not a fan of the anime's own ending so I couldn't wait to get the manga. At the end of this volume is where it began to change. Volume 5 will be a new arc that wasn't in the anime. I'm really looking forward to reading it.

The art in this volume is beautiful. I especially love the cover as Mephisto has one of the most unique character designs I've ever seen. (And I love his pink phone)
I didn't find anything wrong with this volume at all. If you're a fan of Blue Exorcist then this is a must buy. If you are new to the series, I would recommend starting from volume 1.

Bought for my daughter as she has started to collect these books and she loved it - she read her whole collection again in less than a day! - the mother.

It's a great book, and i thouraghly enjoyed it, i loved the anime so i though i would try out the mangas (as i saw them when i was in london last year for my birthday last year). I wasn't expecting this book to be in as good of condition as it was, let's say i was pleasantly surprised to find thatit was in perfect condition, it was well worth the price - it was a very cheap sale. - the daughter
