Product Description

Product Description

Documentary tracking the fortunes of several drastically different student boxers in the run up to the spectacular and highly charged Oxford vs. Cambridge Varsity Boxing Match. A fine-artist, astrophysicist, mathematician, biochemist and philosopher all realise that a sharpened pencil and straight A's are of little use when the gloves are on and the fists fly. As the final bell rings and the winner's arm is raised, its clear that Blue Blood is much less a story of toffs and geeks having a pop at each other, than charmingly self aware men in search of greatness.

If you have ever boxed then hats off to you. If you are one of the many 'bad boys' out there (what ever background) who could get in the ring but couldn't be arsed then this is the reason why they couldn't be arsed-it's because it's alot of hard work, emotionally and physically, you have to have character and mainly they don't box because it is poo-inducingly terrifying. I won't bore you with my history but I have a lot of respect for these supposed toffs, privelage is transient, respect can also be lost but for the time being they have earned mine. Seconds out...

As an OUABC member, I found this movie extremely entertaining and inspiring. OUABC has improved since this film was made, but the spirit of the members hasn't changed. I may be biased, but I honestly found Blue Blood to be a great watch, on the merits of the film, as well as for personal reasons. I would highly recommend a purchase.

This is an excellent documentary covering the training of the Oxford University boxing team leading up to the Varsity Match against Cambridge. It gives an honest look at the characters trying to get a place in the team and the dedication and training required by their head coach and assistants, who are inspiring. It shows another side of the University, and is a fitting inspiration for anyone training for a goal and can recommend several viewings. Well done to those who made the film presumably not on a great budget, but still able to maintain excellent cinematography and music soundtrack. Buy it now and you wont regret a moment.
