Product description

Product Description

Martial arts expert and intelligence agent Frank Dux (Jean-Claude Van Damme) is determined to pay tribute to his Ninja mentor by competing in a brutal secret competition called the Kumite. Despite his superiors' objections, Dux takes on a series of formidable opponents in the ring, placing his life at risk.

From Amazon.co.uk

A well-oiled Jean-Claude Van Damme makes his starring debut in Bloodsport, which may be one of the few kickboxing films to be based on a true story. The Muscles from Brussels plays Frank Dux, the first Westerner ever to win the extreme "whupfest" known as the Kumatai (a long-running, no-holds-barred fighting tournament in Hong Kong). While a bit deficient in the script department (to say the least), this undeniably exciting flick succeeds by letting Van Damme play to his strengths: namely, minimal acting and a lot of impossibly acrobatic splits while kicking people in the head. It's a guilty pleasure testosterone blast of the highest order, with a memorable villain (the massive Bolo Yeung from Enter the Dragon), and a multitude of well-choreographed fight scenes. An embarrassed-looking Forest Whitaker cameos as a hapless (and non-kickboxing) cop. --Andrew Wright

One of the best Van Damme movies of all time... Bloodsport [DVD]

One of the great film's to watch, love the story line, some great scenes and fights, can't wait to watch any similar movies to this, if you ever wanna watch this movie watch it all alone with no disturbance. It's a shame that they don't make movies like this anymore, brilliant movie and good quality dvd print.

Bolo Yeung played an awesome role as Chong Li

I just had to get this on bluray being a great Van Damme fan and a fan of this movie!-I was a little disappointed to be honest!-I compared it to the KICKBOXER bluray and its not as remastered as kickboxer was,the picture quality was good but not excellent for a bluray;it has a theatrical trailer as a bonus feature but nothing else..is it worth spending the money and upgrading to bluray??-'yes' but don't expect too much..Van Damme fans must own this classic on bluray asap!!(its also region free, being region A,B&C.)
