Mack's a great character! I love it that she's a reluctant heroine, love the do it attitude and the unapologetic grumbling and angst. Because hey just because you have to do something doesn't mean you have to like it! Love the combination of all the supernatural groups: were, vamp, mages, fae and weird nasties/monsters. Love the other characters too!
Basically this series is about a girl who's an outsider, who doesn't know what she is, going on a journey of discovering her identity, got a strong streak of right and wrong and will beat into a pulp anyone who gets in her way or make her angry while fighting for the weak, the infringe species, the humans and putting right what she felt was wrong.
Action, angst, emotions, mystery, tribulations, romance, mischief, loss and so much more!
Fantastic series! Great new writer and really looking forward to reading more from Helen Harper!!
I can't recommend this series much more than I have. Buy it read it you won't regret getting it!!
Thank you Ms H! Please write more and please set up a website as I can't seem to find one for Helen Harper author! X
Mackenzie is exactly the kind of heroine I enjoy reading about; she has fighting skills, is sassy, intelligent and yet despite her strength she cares deeply for the pack she lives in.
Bloodfire is very detailed in both plot and character, as I have already suggested, although also very action-packed and full of fantastical creatures (a were-hamster?????!!!). I felt an overwhelming need to reach for Bloodmagic as soon as I had reached the end of the story thanks to Helen Harper's storytelling skills, and this is ideal beginning to what promises to be a compelling paranormal series.
This series of 5 books contains everything I look for, quality writing, interesting plot, great world building and a main character to fall for (with of course an even hotter alpha male thrown in for good measure). Mack was likeable from the very first moment we met her, she took on a huge journey to discover her heritage and go from were pack member to being an outcast, then to one of the most important members of the supernatural society. I loved that we took the scenic route around the UK, from the wilds of Cornwall via Scotland to London, stopping a few places in-between. The supernatural world had everything, including the political interplay between the main groups of Fae, Were and Mages. Some things that stood out were the Were themselves, not just wolves but a whole array of animals. The vampires deserve special mention, these vampires certainly did not sparkle and to be honest were similar to what I think they would end up being if they were indeed real! I loved the friends that mack made along the way, with special mentions to Alex, Solus and Aubrey. This was indeed a roller coaster of a journey and I laughed (there was fantastic humour throughout) and cried. The ending was kind of bittersweet and possibly a little abrupt but still satisfying although I would love a peek into the future sometime. Thank you Helen Harper for a fantastic read.

I'm normally a fan of Ms Harper but I found this book irritating to say the least. The heroine is possibly one of the most annoying that I've ever come across. Read morePublished 2 days ago by Kass VS
