This, the third part of the series was more exciting than part two, which fell rather flat. There is good characterisation and an interesting story line but why oh why is so little research done by the author or her researcher. Again there were many anachronisms in the medieval part of the story. The family were sitting down to tea and bread and jam again. I'm surprised they weren't watching the tv at the same time! It also felt as if someone had given Ms Roberts a dictionary of British swear words which were mixed and matched at random. Personally I have never heard 'shagging' used as an adjective. (That's a shagging shame etc) but possibly I am out of touch. There was also a touch of 'double, double, toil and trouble' about the spells used. I'm surprised that there wasn't any 'eye of newt and toe of frog', This having been said it was a romping good read with the usual mixture of supernatural events and romance. Worth a read.

I am so disappointed in this book. The first chapter I nearly stopped reading. What happened to simple basic research. Tea and jam??????????? It's the middle of the 13th Century, not the 20/21st. I can't take a book seriously when it gets such basic things wrong. Nora, you're better than this sloppy writing. And the story's been done before as well. At least twice. How about something original for a change.

A ridiculous story, endlessly drawn out by repeating the same formulas and pronouncements of undying love over and over again.Much worse than the other two volumes, but then she had nowhere else to go. I suppose she feasted for a week, when at last she had finished it. Well, so did I.

I love the work of Nora Roberts and this book is no exception if you want an easy read. Being the third book the story should be coming to a climax but so far there seems to be an awful lot of repetition from the first 2 books. I am only so far through and will read to the end to find out what happens........however I'm not in a rush to find out like most of her other books.

I could not finish this book. I really didn't like it at all, but to be fair I did not like the rest of the series either. The characters were too thin and I felt it was repetitive of previous series but just not as well written. Very disappointed with this one.

I have now read all 3 books in the cousins O'Dwyer trilogy, and was disappointed to come to the end.
Truly magical trilogy, the story was written in such a way, it was as though you knew the characters and you were in the story with them.
As always Nora Roberts never fails to deliver, and I cannot wait for her next trilogy to start, hopefully with more witches and sorcery.
I have now read just about everything this amazing author has ever written.
12 out of 10 fantastic x

I don't normally write reviews but found this book so awful I wouldn't recommend it at all. I have read all of Nora's books and used to look forward to each one coming out. Over the last few years, though, they have become progressively more and more boring to read. The first two books in this series were a bit dull but okay. This one - nothing happens for a long time - interminable dialog about shopping, walking the dog, having a drink down the pub - then about one chapter of excitement then back to the dull dialog. Even the big showdown only took about half a chapter at the end. And Nora seems to think good writing involves tonnes of one word descriptions replacing a proper scene setting... I couldn't have described where the big showdown happened or where everyone was during it because it was all just based on 'impressions'.... *sigh*... I am seriously wondering if Nora has employed a shadow-writer of some kind. Seriously don't waste your money on this book - get it from the library if you want to know what happens!

well I loved it! yes it's a bit hubble bubble from a magic point of view, any maybe some of the research isnt up to scratch - but honestly that's not what I read Nora Roberts for.

The characters are great, you know the end from the beginning but she pulls you into the fabric of their lives and they all weave a great story.

Have only read the first book up to now, so can't comment on the whole series. It takes you away for a couple of hours and I am looking forward to reading the rest . Yet another thoroughly enjoyable book by Nora!
