5.0 out of 5 stars Struggling along with Ben was a painful joy. Lee Isserow made me feel Ben's guilt ... 10 Mar. 2017

Gah!! Not only was this an original concept, but it also dealt believable human emotions. Struggling along with Ben was a painful joy. Lee Isserow made me feel Ben's guilt and terror. The cliffhanger is a killer, though. Now I must get my greedy hands on Book 2. Happy reading!

Wow. A totally different "Creature Feature." Engrossing. New heroes to protect and serve. Don't make them mad though. Consequences mean bloodshed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fast paced and Left me wanting more. 6 Mar. 2017
By Dawn - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Okay Ben has been a witness to tragedy from an early age his mother was killed by a monster and he saw it at only 5 years of age and while he came to accept that the person responsible for killing his mother was in jail and not the monster he saw that does not mean that he's okay or has moved on from what happened. Shortly after that, he's abandoned by his father which leads to a whole other set of issues regarding anger and trust.

Now after another event occurs Ben is recruited by a government agency and learns that the monsters are real and that one is actually living inside of him. With a group of other recruits, they undergo training and learn that they are the only ones who can take down the Hemogoblins or how they refer to them the Bloods. Now the training scenes are a bit fast paced and they go out on their first mission sort of quickly and it doesn't go as smoothly as planned.

Now, the last mission in the book sort of ends on a cliffhanger luckily the next book is coming out in April and I can't wait to see what happens to Ben and what LIES he has been told. I really enjoyed reading this book I only put it down long enough to get a few hours of sleep. Now no book is perfect and the overuse of pop culture references was a bit much for me but that's just me....it did make the world a bit more believable since those are things that are talked about or referenced all the time. The only big thing that kind of through it off for me was when the pubic hair of a lady was described when the team walked in on their target in the middle of messing around....didn't really see the need for it and it was sort of awkward.

I did receive and ARC copy of this from ABAM and after reading wanted to leave a review to let others know what I thought about it.

Review of THE BLOOD LIVES
{IN THE BLOOD BOOK 1}

By Lee Isserow

This initial installment of the paranormal/sci fi series IN THE BLOOD is an exciting, fast-paced, deeply emotional novella with an intriguing scientific premise. There really do exist monsters, “haemogoblins” which consist of, quite literally, blood: sentient, active, almost uncontrollable blood entities. Certain individuals carry these, and when threatened or in danger, the blood monsters are aroused and injure, even kill, the threats. Of course, secretive governmental agencies are formed to study, analyse, and combat the entities. Carriers, when possible, are trained. One such is Ben, whose mother was killed by a “monster” when he was very small.

The author generously provided a digital ARC, for review and book blog purpose. This review constitutes my honest opinion, voluntarily offered.
5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, can't wait for book two! 5 April 2017
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com

What originally drew me to Lee's book was the awesome cover. As a reader of predominantly romance books, I had my reservations. However, once I began reading I could barely put it down!
Other reviews have covered the plot pretty well, so I will just say what I thought. Some parts are fast paced and exciting and others leave you with a feeling of suspense. The main character, Ben, is easy to connect with and when he suffers, you also suffer. It's a rarity to find books in which you can actually get that feeling and have an emotional connection, but Lee has pulled it off phenomenally well!
Sometimes cliff hangers are inconveniently placed and make no sense, but this one isn't like that at all. It leaves you wanting more and wondering what will happen to Ben. I absolutely can't wait until the second book is out and discover more about this interesting world that Lee has crafted.

I did receive this book as an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
