5.0 out of 5 stars A return to form but in the worst circumstances 3 July 2011

I'd seen the Tatts live that many times - with umpteenth guitar and bass combinations. The tragic passing of Wellsy must have been hard on the guys and to keep that sound would have been impossible.

So who do you recruit to replace Pete Wells? Nobody could replace him. What they did (and actually asked Pete and recommended by him) was a slide guitarist called Dai Pritchard. What a cracking slide player and plays nothing like Pete Wells!

It's a more harder edge than the Tatts are better known for but I'd put it up as just as good as earlier albums.

The bonus is a live DVD of them playing the Wacken Open Air festival in Germany with a bonus interview with Angry and some of the boys. This DVD shows you how much power these boys have live - always have. I watched them in a club with 30 people and they still blew the rafters off.

This is what the Tatts have always been known for and do best - hard as all .... Rock'n'Roll!

Rose Tattoo are back; is not like the beginning with the great LPs "Rock 'n' Roll Outlaw" and "Assault & Battery" (quite difficult after 30 years of rock), but fans will appreciate it especially the DVD with Wacken show.

Great band. Good to see they are still rocking. Sad to see a few of their members pass away. These guys are true blue, unpretentious rockers with a real heart.

4.0 out of 5 stars Rockin' Special Edition 5 Mar. 2010
By Justin G. - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Australia's other beloved long-running, hard-rocking band Rose Tattoo came brawling back in 2007 with Blood Brothers, their eleventh studio album overall and first since the death of founding bassist Pete Wells.

Blood Brothers doesn't really offer any surprises, but then again, most people aren't buying a Rose Tattoo album expecting to hear something progressive or cutting edge. You buy a Rose Tattoo album because it's predictable. You're guaranteed a bloody, sweaty, hard rocking good time, and you're never disappointed. Angry Anderson and the rest of these tattooed warriors slog their way through eleven new odes to sex ("Sweet Meat" and the hysterical "Lubricated"), hard living ("Nothing to Lose", "Black Eyed Bruiser") and even history (the surprisingly moving "1854", which is based on the Eureka Stockade Rebellion). This is down n' dirty rock & roll in the best possible sense of the term.

Blood Brothers was a worthwhile purchase by itself, but the Special Tour Edition is an even better buy. It comes with a bonus DVD that features the band's performance at the Wacken festival in 2006. The band rocks through 13 songs, both old and new, including a tribute to Pete Wells. There is also a "Tatt TV" interview included as bonus material. It's a high quality DVD, and could stand on it's own as a separate release.

If you bought Blood Brothers the first time around, you should definitely give some thought to picking up the Special Tour Edition. If you haven't yet heard the album, this is obviously the best version to get.
