Not this author! Two totally original takes on the zombies themselves, that I have never seen in other books or films of this genre. This book is worth reading for that alone.
I read this in about 36 hours! It was gripping and totally unputdownable. The writing is excellent, and the relationships between the characters and their thoughts and reactions to events is so real and well done. There is wit, humour, terror, compassion and anger in these characters that makes the reader really feel what they are going through, and that they (the reader) could react in the same way to events. You are right there with them! The characters are very solid and consistent, the author really gets into the mindset of each character and writes them as though she knows them through and through.
There is nothing 'standard' about this book at all, In my opinion it stands out from the majority of zombie apocalypse genre books in the writing style and the plot.
Definitely recommended - even if you don't like zombies! If you appreciate good writing with a splat of black humour this is definitely for you!
It's so easy to imagine the zombie apocalypse happening whilst reading the book and the fact that I live in Folkestone, where it starts, makes it even more realistic.
A fabulous book that should be made into a film at the earliest opportunity!
I can't wait for the sequel to see what happens to Sophie and her friends as they fight for survival!
A brilliant debut novel by a new author who is obviously destined to become a great, bestselling International author! :)
Fast paced, with believable and well developed characters, BOTD - Sophie horrifies, entertains and even amuses with deliciously dark moments of black comedy. A couple of original twists pave the way for a sequel which I will be first in the queue to download.
In short, BOTD - Sophie kicks some serious zombie ass and is nothing short of brilliant.
If you love zombies read this book!!
