Wow, what a game. Blizzard has nailed it.
I am 42 , i have played Doom when i was a nipper, and countless FPS games. this game reminds me alot of my old favourite "Timesplitters" and Unreal 2. A cross over.
The over realisticand over serious sniper , battlefield 4 and call of duty , are what i have been hooked on in the last 8 years. But this is not that serious. graphically excellent, colourful, cartoony with a happy child friendly look. Whether its Winston the Gorilla, or Tracer, these are great looking characters.
Now this PS4 Gameplay is similar to ( or as close as possible to) the PC gameplay, they have tried hard to replicate, speeded up, and gloss the gameplay like a PC unreal tournament 2 or quake 3. This is where it differs, for those of you who played the old online pc version of quake 3 or unreal tournament 2 or half life counterstrike, this is where this PS4 game has tried hard to copy the smooth pc gameplay on the PS4.
Its quick, smooth , responsive control system adds to the gameplay. Still the ps4 controller will never beat a pc mouse , but they has tried and come as close to as possible. I would like to say stage design is superb, there could be more, but they will come, Nepal and Hanamura, japan are my favourite. The Japanese voices , all sound like Ken Watanabe, Why are all British pc / ps4 characters strong cockneys, I have no idea? I think thats what Blizzard developers in USA think of UK ! Also music and soundtrack is atmospheric and very catchy. Well composed music.
Blizzard have nailed this, they have taken everything good from COD / Timesplitter / Blizzard universe / Counterstrike and made an excellent hybrid version.
Pharah is my favourite, but each character adds a new way of playing. More hours of gameplay. In 1 week, since I bought it, i put kids to bed at 8 pm, and play 4 hours to midnight!. Wife might look for a boyfriend!
Brilliant!

I read lots of good reviews for this game but decided it was not for me. A team based FPS with no off-line campaign, limited maps, a maximum of 6 players on each team and it's "cartoony" as well. I decided it was aimed at the under 12s. The good reviews kept coming and then the price dropped to £24.99 and I thought.. what the hell, I'll try it. So I took a break from Elder Scrolls Online and FIFA 17 and loaded it up. I tried 3 or 4 characters in "training" mode and then picked one (Zenyatta) to play against a computer controlled team - 6 on 6. He is a healer and was pretty easy to master. After several games against the computer team I had a pretty good feel for how to play the character so I jumped into a game against a human team - 6 on 6. That's when the fun really starts. Once you engage the opposing team everything gets frantic. Unfortunately if you end up on a team playing as individuals then it can be frustrating and quite hard to win the match. However, if you end up with a group of players who know how to play as a team then it can be so rewarding, seeing everyone supporting each other. The team who play together will invariably win most of the time. There is no single character who is over powered or invulnerable. Every character can be countered. So it's all about the balance of the team and the tactics you adopt. I am genuinely surprised at how much I enjoy playing this game but if you play it with a single player mentality and ignore the team ethic, you will completely miss the point of the game, you will get bored very quickly, and you will lose a lot. Then you will come here a post a bad review about how rubbish the game is because there is no offline campaign, it lacks depth and it's thin on content.

If team-based FPS games are your thing then this is the game for you! However if you tend to prefer more single player games are multiplayer games where you can operate without bothering with much team work then you're probably better off missing this one or picking it up in a sale perhaps.

For those that do like this kind of game, it is beautifully crafted. The sound and art design and graphics are gorgeous and run at a silky smooth 60 frames per second even when the action is getting hectic.

More importantly it plays really well. Blizzard have clearly taken their time balancing the game so that nearly all of the characters are fun to play and serve a purpose. It may seem like quite a light game in terms of content (although new maps and characters will be released for FREE - no DLC nonsense for once). However, once you get into it you realise it actually has a lot of depth. There are so many ways to play out a match and different tactics you can use.

And even playing with an uncommunicative team isn't too much of a problem as long as they generally know what they're doing and select the right combination of characters to give your team a good shot at winning the match. Although it can be fun as well as hilarious when your team all decide to play as the same character and rush the opposition as one of my teams did with Reaper!

All in all, a top top shooter which should last a long time for those that like this sort of thing.

My favorite game in ages. I used to play an ungodly amount of Team Fortress 2 back in the day and this very nicely scratches that itch but adds the polish and excellent support that Blizzard are renowned for. A very worthy buy and highly recommended.
