Review

You know it's a tough decision to spend time or money on an up and coming novelist until he has a track record - well you wont be disappointed with this ... I hope it's the first of many. --Lancashire County Council

Simon Gray is British and was born in 1963. He was educated in South Africa, and travelled the world as a Yacht Master and enthusiastic entrepreneur, establishing businesses in the United States and the UK, some of which succeeded, some didn't. I found this book jumped about all over the place - not just the locations (UK, USA, Trinidad, etc.),
but the various sub plots. We didn't discover who the couple were in the first chapter till the last
few pages, and then that explanation was rushed.

Two brothers build expensive sailing boats, which are being sabotaged before they reach their
USA buying agent. Neither brother was likeable. The younger one was obsessed with sex and the other
was obsessed with business and money, to the detriment of his employees, family and long-suffering
girlfriend.
When his loved ones were in possible danger, the older brother spent a lot of time in tears - when he wasn't
thinking about the USA Homeland woman!
There was a fat, bumbling Trinidad policeman chasing and losing a criminal on several occasions.
It took a long time before that criminal was tied into what was happening with the brothers' boats - and that
explanation in itself I found implausible.

Then there were the many errors - spelling, grammar, missed words and even on a few occasions, a
different character's name being used, which meant I had to re-read paragraphs till I realized what had
happened.

At least the book was free and I downloaded the sequel at the same time. I might get round to reading
that sometime and hope it is better than this one. I can see I am in the minority, but sorry, I just don't think
this rates more than 2.5 stars.

I do not like the style of writing, and the sub plots were not concluded, perhaps there will be other books in which these characters appear. But not for me.

The storyline was ok although a bit clumsy. I'd be interested to know if the printed book was as badly typed as the Kindle version. The countless basic grammar and spelling errors almost made me abandon this book on a number of occasions, but I'm reluctant to leave a book unfinished so I persevered.

Could have spent all day and night reading this book but unfortunately had other commitments.
I never give away a story when I review a book but it does have enough interwoven characters and some odd twists and turns to keep you on your toes.
A book to buy.

From a woman's point of view, even though it was action & adventure, (which doesn't normally attract me) the author made this book very readable by adding emotional insights as well - there was a human element that balanced the storyline and they complimented each other really well. The action was very fast-paced (made me think I was in an 007 film) and due to the author's fantastic specific knowledge about the subjects and the places, you find yourself wondering if it's a true story! Definitely worth a read, and I am looking forward to more exciting books from this new author.
