"Horse-mad readers will devour Blind Beauty." (Books for Keeps)
"I can't recommend this book enough." (Amazon)
"Four-year-old Tessa is heartbroken when her parents divorce and she must leave Shiner, the blind horse that her father bred. She's had a difficult life and has no interest in anything until she encounters the ugly but great racehorse Buffoon, who happens to be Shiner's colt. Narrator Nicki Paull captures the difficult and angry Tessa and everyone she meets on the road to becoming a relative rarity – a female jockey. The story's horse lore remains interesting for most listeners, thanks to Paull's thoughtful delivery. Horse lovers old and young will enjoy it." Tessa is taken away from her beloved horse Shiner at the age of 5 and his heartbroken to have to live with her fatal stepdad - Maurice - who makes her mum scared to death and herself get kicked out of every school she applies to! Then, Maurice signs her up to the nearby stables that he owns and there she meets a horse that will stay in her heart forever and finds herself fun and tough times.
Come on pick it up it's great and you don't wanna miss it!
Overall, i think the way this book was written is flawless and brutally honest. Obviously horsey readers will enjoy it above all, but i don't want to say the same READ THIS IF YOU LOVE HORSES LIKE ME! sort of crap, because this book is as about people as it is about horses, about finding who you are and where you belong, and because of this, i'd recommend it to any non-horsey readers looking for something a bit different.
