HASH(0x93372630) out of 5 stars This book will bless you 18 April 2014
By Books By Corine - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I declared 2014, the year of blessings for me. As a result, I decided to learn all that I can about how to bless others and how to recognize the blessings in my life. Heather Hart’s book was very timely for me. In it, she takes the reader verse by verse through the beatitudes. I also like that she uses other Bible verses to support her points and to help the reader understand the beatitudes better. Be sure to purchase a copy, it will bless you.

HASH(0x932f74c8) out of 5 stars What does it truly mean to be blessed? 17 April 2014

What does blessed mean? "To be blessed by God means to experience hope and joy, independent from our circumstances."

Were people different back in Jesus' day? No! They still wanted money and power. The beatitudes are not multiple choice. We cannot pick and choose which ones we want to accept or ignore!

In this book the author explores one beatitude per chapter. Each chapter is 3-4 pages long and end with questions and scripture references.

1. Poor in Spirit is the opposite of 'me first.' It is having a servant's heart, putting Christ first, the opposite of the church at Laodicea.
2. Those who mourn - God uses times of mourning to help us grow. If we recognize our sin, it should bring a mournful attitude and repentance.
3. The meek - In the world's eyes meekness is weakness. In God's eyes, meekness is greatness. Jesus was meek Being meek allows us to choose how to react to glorify Him and not ourselves.
4. Hunger and thirst - Do you ever crave chocolate like the author admits to doing? (I do!) Do we have the same craving for righteousness?
5. Merciful - The greatest example of mercy is Jesus dying on the cross for us. None of us deserve heaven. We are called to be merciful to others also.
6. Pure in heart - "Purity means unmixed."
7. Peacemakers - God's peace is eternal. True peace comes from trusting God.
8. Persecuted - Persecution doesn't always come from Governments, it can come from family and friends.

This is a well written book, ideal for personal or group study. The author encourages the reader to dig into the Bible and question yourself on how you are in terms of the beatitudes. Highly recommended!

What I look for in any book is simple. I want to learn more about the subject in the title. In this case the operative word is fantastic. I learned so much about the beatitudes. I now have a better understanding of them. Also so many great references I can look up in my bible. Thank you for writing the book.

HASH(0x92f680cc) out of 5 stars PLEASE READ THIS BOOK IT CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE! 31 May 2014

Have you ever heard of the beautitudes Jesus preached on the Mountain? This book slices them up into perfect chapters to discuss with your mate, kids, or just for you to ponder.
I love how each begins with a verse and ends with questions and other verses. The author doesn't make the book about her, but shares her experiences as well as other's to help explain how the beautitudes should work. She has a very simplistic way of writing that makes it easy to follow, understand, guide, and be lead by the Holy Spirit.
I am moved each time we open this book up. We are using it as a morning devotion and trying to stick to one beautitude a week so we can focus on it with our children. What a wonderful foundation we all can provide to our future generations and this book helps pave that pathway for people like me who find it difficult to find the right words and/or experiences on their own.
I really appreciate what she has put into this book. It is real and it is beautiful. Not something that any christian should pass up. THANK YOU FOR THIS GIFT MRS. HART!

HASH(0x9337412c) out of 5 stars Helpful Book Despite a Couple of Weak Areas 7 Aug. 2014
By Voracious Reader - Published on Amazon.com

This book, written by Heather Hart, is the first in a series of Bible study books for Christian women. It takes readers verse by verse through the blessings mentioned in the beatitudes, providing real life examples as well as verses for a deeper look into the beatitudes.

Although I found a couple of weak spots, overall, I did find this book to be a good study of the beatitudes. Chapter 7 talked about being at peace and not being a peacemaker, and therefore seemed to miss the real point of the verse. I also found a few errors, like “give someone a peace [instead of piece] of my mind” and quotation marks were used around the title of books instead of underlining or italics. I gave it a 4.5, which rounded up to a five.
