Blended marks the third comedy collaboration between stars Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, following their successful onscreen pairings in the hit romantic comedies 50 First Dates and The Wedding Singer.
After a disastrous blind date, single parents Lauren (Barrymore) and Jim (Sandler) agree on only one thing: they never want to see each other again. But when they each sign up separately for a fabulous family vacation with their kids, they are all stuck sharing a suite at a luxurious African safari resort for a week.

I found the film enjoyable and light hearted. It is not an oscar material film. Do not expect seriousness and sophistication. It is meant to be fun and silly. This is a typical Adam Sandler's film, that I have watched. He is a lot older. He has not lost the touch as a fine comedy actor. The plot is about two single parents Jim and Lauren. The first blind date turns into a discaster. They both go different directions, without the intending of meeting again. There is a coincedence, as the two meet on an South African holiday with their children. How is this possible? There are plenty of laughs, as the children are mischievous and cheeky. There is plenty of African humour. The African adventure features the wildlife, a holiday resort, a restuarnt and swimming. The audience laughed out. The humour is plentiful. Can a romance bloosom between the two? The kids are warming to the parents as the film progresses.
Bearing in mind the catergory of film, I would award 4 stars. If you looking for a film with laughter, I would recommend the Blended. It will not be everyone's cup of tea. I enjoyed it as a whole. If you are looking for something sophisticated serious, look eleswhere.
Adam's character Jim is a widow with three tomboy daughters. We're not told how long ago it was that his wife died but his youngest daughter is quite young, so it can't have been that long ago and it's obvious he was in love with his wife and misses her. Drew's character is a divorcee with an ex husband who is not a very good dad to their two sons. Without having to go over the storyline, needless to say their two characters spend a week together with their kids. At first they hate each other but then in the last few days together they start to realise how alike they are and what a great parent each of them is. What I wasn't convinced about was the sudden realisation from them both that they were in love! Especially Adam's character as he was so obviously still in love with his dead wife. This part I wasn't convinced about. It's not really a romantic comedy as they don't even kiss until the end. It's more about 'blended' families and parenthood but I still enjoyed it.
I cant remember before seeing this at the cinema the last time I howled with laughter at a comedy film, it simply was that hilarious. From the first moments of their blind date it built up to a well telegraphed ending, but on the way there were some very touching scenes involving both sets of kids which can tug at the old heartstrings. Drew was simply brilliant in this role, she played the over protective mum to perfection, while Adam was spot on as the clueless dad of 3 girls who cant understand why his eldest wants a makeover....
It must be working with Drew Barrymore that's brought some luck to Adam Sandler as this movie is not too shabby. An unsurprising ending but a sprinkle of laugh out loud jokes along the way.
There is a few adult jokes in the film so you may not want to invite the kids.
Through a series of improbable circumstances the two families are thrust together on an African adventure with predictable results.
The film had a feeling of "Just Go With It." Sandler and Barrymore create great on screen chemistry. It is immaterial that you know what is going to happen, because you want it to happen. The kids were great on screen too.
Heart warming and fun film.
Parental Guidance: No f-bombs, sex, or nudity. Adult themes.
