However the TV died after a month with an electrical fault. As the TV is under warranty i contacted Blaupunkt. The replies i got were clearly automated, or at least copied from a pre-prepared statement so never got the impression i was talking to an actual person who would help me sort this problem. Long story short, despite having a manufacturers warranty, Blaupunkt refused to take responsibility for the TV and suggested i contact the supplier. As the supplier was Amazon and they do not accept returns after a month, they wouldn't take it back either. After sending a response back to Blaupunkt stating this, i never heard from them again despite several attempts. I advise anyone purchasing this TV to be wary that if the TV dies, you will NOT get it fixed. I have tried for several months. No one will take the responsibility that is legally theirs to fix it.
The remote control is simple to use and the TV gives on screen hints such has which button to press to close the menus.
The Freeview TV Guide will only show one channel and one day at a time, but again is simple and fast to use.
Recording is simple, but does not tie to the programme; it records the times you specify but cannot do series record for example.
Considering how thin the TV is the sound is quite good and fine for ordinary programmes. Mine is teamed with a 2+1 speaker system and a smart PVR I already had, so at this price it's brilliant. I upgraded from a 38-Inch "HD Ready" TV; the Freeview HD channels and Netflix (from my separate PVR box) are absolutely transformed.
You do need a medium size cross head screw driver to fit the stand to the TV.
Oh, and I haven't looked at the manual because I'm a man and because I didn't need to...
It's nice and and cheap for its size, you'd struggle to find anything this big from Sony/Samsung for the money. It's easy to use and more or less sets itself up straight out of the box - Had some difficulty with tuning a Sony. Has USB slots to connect hard drives, now don't let other manufacturers fool you - If you own a Sony TV you'll know that you also have this feature, however your Sony TV will probably play nothing and crash when you try to do so - rendering this feature useless on a Sony TV. The Blaupunkt seems to play anything and everything so far which I have only experienced on Samsung TV's up until now. It also has a very handy aspect ratio button so you won't have those horrible black lines at the top and bottom of your screen when watching a movie. Also a headphone port too incase you wanted to easily connect your speakers.
These cons are only a minor inconvenience as the pros far outweigh these. The picture quality is not quite as good as Samsung or Sony, it's good, but if you're after that incredibly sharp picture I would suggest a Samsung. The TV guide isn't the best - There may be a way to change this though I haven't actually looked yet.
If it's an all round cheap television you want then there's nothing better. If you have a little extra cash I'd suggest a Samsung - The only downsides about Samsung televisions is that they are quite poor for gaming on. There's a noticeable delay between the time it takes for you to press a button and for that action to appear on the screen (input lag) This can result in you losing lots of online games, especially such as call of duty or battlefield where you rely on reaction times.
If you really want a gaming TV, Sony may be the way to go. But bear in mind that the Sony TV will only impress you on games - I had so many simple problems that just aren't an issue on my Samsung or Blaupunkt.
