Product Description

Quentin Tarantino maintains that BLASTFIGHTER is the best movie that the legendary Lamberto Bava (DEMONS) has ever called "action" on and who are we to argue? Ultimately, this blistering bout of sweaty, sanguine-stained action-horror is one hell of an exciting ride as an ex-jailbird, seeking little more than a quiet life in the wilderness, finds his scenic ideal invaded by some vicious redneck poachers.

In response, blood is spilled, bullets are fired and the real prey becomes man in this riotous mix of FIRST BLOOD and the backwoods shocks of DELIVERANCE and SOUTHERN COMFORT!

Also highlighting a cast of Italian genre icons, including Michael Sopkiw (MASSACRE IN DINOSAUR VALLEY), Valentina Forte (CUT AND RUN) and George Eastman (ANTHROPHAGUS), BLASTFIGHTER makes its worldwide BluRay debut, uncut and uncensored, from 88 Films!

Lamberto Bava's 1984 hillbilly spaghetti action flick "Blastfighter" makes it's worldwide Blu ray debut here from cult UK indie label 88 Films as part of their Italian Collection line. Until now this was unavailable officially on either DVD or Blu ray in the UK and even more exciting for genre fans this also marks the first time Blastfighter has ever been presented completely uncut here in Blighty with the 80s VHS tape falling afoul of the BBFC's over eager scissors.

Synopsis:
Michael Sopkiw(2019 After the Fall of New York and Massacre in Dinosaur Valley)stars as Jake "Tiger" Sharp a disgraced ex-cop fresh out of the slammer after serving time for gunning down the murderer of his wife. He is picked up by his old police buddy Jerry who hands him a newly developed Spas-12 shotgun that can shoot pretty much anything including explosives and smoke bombs so as he can exact revenge on the crooked attorney who shafted him. Seeking a quiet life (we can tell this from his Ned Flanders style mustache) he bottles out of the assassination attempt and retreats to the solitude of the country and his fathers old hunting cabin where he hides the shotgun under the floorboards. Unfortunately the local town is overrun by beer swilling poacher rednecks who take an instant dislike to Jake especilly when he sniffs out their dodgy dealings with a Chinese businessman who needs live animals for his oriental remedies. As to be expected the good ol boy yokels are no match for the tough ex-cop and jailbird who gives them a warning following an altercation in the town. To complicate matters further the ringleader of the rednecks has a brother Tom (Italian genre legend George Eastman)who is also an old sparring pal of Jake's.

This italian movie was shot entirely on location in Clayton, Georgia, USA. The story : an ex-cop comes out from jail and wants to find peace in his old country house. Little by little, he will enter into a war with local hunters who slaughter animals for some traffic. The movie is surprisingly good, fast paced, very well dubbed in english and with a wonderful theme song composed by the Bee Gees for Kenny Rogers (here it's a female called Tommie Baby who's singing "evening star" but the arrangements are exactly the same). What impressed me the most with this danish dvd (subtitles are removable) was the quality of the restauration : the image is simply superb and gives justice to the magnificent landscapes. A must buy for all the lovers of italian B-movies from the 80's. This one is definitely a masterpiece of the genre.

I was dying to see this movie for years, it's a kind of poor man's First Blood starring Michael Sopkiw.
He didn't make that many movies but the ones he did were highly entertaining and this one is no exception.
We are off to the backwoods of America to witness our hero square off to a bunch of red neck criminals, he does'nt really have any allies but he does have an incredible specially made assault rifle that fires a whole array of lethal ammo.
Action gauranteed!

Think of First Blood with the funniest group of bad guys you have ever heard. I say heard because the dubbing on this film is some of the worst I've heard. And I love it. The dialogue is in some scenes hysterical. Add to this an eighties soundtrack by Dolly Parton (not really but it could be) and the gun play only the eighties could produce and you have a classic.
