The author was certainly very skilled in her telling of this tale that allowed Megan and Logan to meet - she's his sister's best friend, who has rented his flat in Dallas, whilst he's back home helping out after his father's stroke. His runaway daughter, Katie (refreshingly non-bratty) arrives on the doorstep looking for her dad, so of course Megan has to take her to the ranch, where they meet, and their romance starts off slowly.
It's not just about the romance, as we see Megan care for Charlie, Logan's father who is recovering from his stroke, in between helping out on the ranch and living her dream of being in an open space, working with animals. She's there for Logan when his father passes away, and when clearing up the house, she accidentally finds a diary which sets him on the path to forgiving himself and learning to love the land again. And through her caring and giving, Logan himself reconnects with what he left behind, in a particularly poignant event.
Yes, they get their HEA, but not immediately, which made it more meaningful and more rewarding when they eventually got there. It could have done with a touch more romance, as there were some love scenes - as opposed to just sex scenes - but those were of the 'fade away' variety, yet slightly more explicit/sensual ones would have worked better.
Overall, it's a really enjoyable read.
I found it wasn't overly taxing and a easy read. A very nice book to sit down and have a relaxing break with.
I liked the characters and the story.
First time reading this author and was nicely written.

Pretty run of the mill. Easy reading. Logan is a bit of an idiot. OK for free.Published 24 months ago by Joannie
