Helmed by director Adam Wingard (You're Next, The Guest, V/H/S, V/H/S/2), Blair Witch goes back to its found footage roots 20 years after James's sister and her two friends vanished into the Black Hills Forest in Maryland, while researching the legend of the Blair Witch leaving a trail of theories and suspicions in their wake. The film documents James (James Allen McCune) and his friends Peter (Brandon Scott), Ashley (Corbin Reid) and film student Lisa (Callie Hernandez) venturing into the same woods each with a camera to uncover the mysteries surrounding the 1994 disappearances. At first the group is hopeful, especially when a pair of locals Lane (Wes Robinson) and Talia (Valorie Curry) offer to act as guides through the dark and winding woods. But as the endless night wears on, the group is visited by a menacing presence. Slowly, they begin to realise the terrifying legend is all too real and more sinister than they could have imagined.

The Blair Witch isn't what I would consider scary, but let's not forget that it did pave the way, for the lost footage genre of horror movies, of which there are now pleanty.
So this film takes place after the first one. The brother of the girl in the original movie, sets out into the woods with supportive friends to try and discover what happened to his sister, with "footage" that supposedly shows his sister is still alive living in the house that was shown in film 1. This footage turns out to be fake. However, after another hoax the first night camping the friends find themselves being terrorised by the Blair Witch, filmed in much the same way as film one, but with slightly better sound effects XD
All in all better than the book of shadows.
