The US, 1864. With the mysterious disappearance of a unit of Union soldiers in Blackburn Burrow, Georgia, our hero is tracked down to help with the problem. Found in Virginia where he has now left the Army and is despatching a zombie, he is persuaded to help.

This does have some good atmosphere and catches your imagination from the outset. It is a good read that draws you in, leaving you wanting so much more. If you are a fan of Weird West tales, then this should be just right for you.

It's good enough that I'm going to pick up the others to see how it turns out. A little short for my tastes, but the story and art is good enough to justify reading.

HASH(0x93464c90) out of 5 stars Another great one from Marz. 13 Sept. 2012

I've been a long time fan of Ron Marz, the Witchblade and Artifacts series being some of my favorites. This comic is no exception to showcasing his talents. Picked it up at the Baltimore Comic Con, read it that night, and loved it. Awesome as well that it's free! So there's no reason not to give it a shot ;)

I love Amazon's comic book formatting. It really does a good job of letting you follow like you would a paper comic.

The story here is interesting and I am excited to read the next issue

HASH(0x93464fc0) out of 5 stars Not burned by Blackburn Burrow! 6 Oct. 2012

So when I heard that Amazon was getting into comic book publishing, I was very skeptical about their first offer into the scene. Boy, was I surprised! The story line in Issue 1 was well scripted, the characters became more intresting as the story progressed, and the inking and drawing in each cell were great! Though the setting and era have become a recent reference point in pop culture, the whole book was a good read with suspense and zombies sprinkled appropriately throughout the story arc.

HASH(0x93464eb8) out of 5 stars I liked this story 21 Sept. 2012

I liked this story, and the means of delivery. The Cloud Reader app worked perfectly for me after I figured out how to use it with a comic and its associated panels. It's a story, set post Civil War, of a man trying to slay his demons, one at a time.

The comic book presentation was outstanding, art excellent, and I will get more of these as available.

HASH(0x934680c0) out of 5 stars Excellent comic 18 Sept. 2012

It is clear to me that either Amazon contracted with Ron Marz to make this comic to show off the new comic capabilities of the new Fire devices, or Ron Mars is trying to leverage Kindle for something big. This comic is way too good for the free bin.
