3.0 out of 5 stars their last 27 Sept. 2002
By robert long - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This was the bands last album....being kind of a hodgepodge. The first few songs were recorded for the album and the last four were recorded with a new singer. Some good songs...no longer in the satanic vein...including Sleighride..a sort of Christmas song. Interesting.

3.0 out of 5 stars Black Widow - 'IV' (Mystic) 3 1/2 stars 21 Feb. 2006
By Mike Reed - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Originally released in 1973, as this was the Leicester band's final album. Liked it about as much as I did the 'III' lp (see my review). Tunes I find myself looking forward to whenever I play this CD are "Sleighride", "The Waves", the inventive "Floating" and "Pictures In My Head". Best described as decent early '70's hard rock, although the CD does have several low key moments. Might appeal to fans of Uriah Heep, Wishbone Ash, early King Crimson, possibly even Jethro Tull or maybe ELP. Do check it out.
4.0 out of 5 stars Black Widow Progresses 20 Dec. 2013

If you like Come To The Sabbat, IV will confuse you. Where are the edgy lyrics about witches and devils and grind rock chords inspired by Black Sabbath. Here is a clue. Remember that Black Widow evolved out of psych soul band, Pesky Gee, whose Where Is My Mind is a minor period classic. Fast forward to IV. Black Widow is now a dandy prog band with big keyboards, epic guitars, melodic vocals and harmonies plus flutes etc. IV stands up well when compared with early prog classics like Gracious and Cressida. Standout tracks include Sleighride, Floating and More Than A Day. Black Sabbath never really evolved the way Uriah Heep did. Black Widow certainly grew up. It is too bad that this self-produced treasure was not released at the time. Perhaps they could have been another Heep or even Camel. I listen to this frequently.
