About the Author
Simon Raven and Chris Raven were born in the United Kingdom. A career in overland adventure travel was launched when they drove across Siberia from the UK to Vladivostok at the dawn of a new millennium. They have since traversed the Trans-oceanic highway from the Pacific to the Atlantic coast of South America and in 2007 travelled the road to Damascus. In addition to co-writing four travel books, they have documented and photographed multiple off the beaten track destinations across the globe including China’s deep south, tribal India and the Balkan peninsula.

I find the brothers to be pleasant enough guys but they lack any depth or character to make the book engaging. I hope if they write another book in the future they will first really take time to think it through and not lazily recite historical facts that are available to us all on Wikipedia. Instead they should work on their descriptive writing skills and tell us what they thought and felt as the trip went on and their changing moods. As it is we know no more about the brothers at the end of the book as we did before it. Pity as they are doing some interesting travels. Unfortunately their legacy will be uninteresting books.
I wish them well on future trips but hope they take the time to craft better books from them.

North America should not forget that these ancient civilizations brought , mathematics, medicine , astrology and more.
These countries are our birthplace . We are a very young country and I am most grateful to live here but
I bow in recognition of their true greatness over centuries. My country is 150 years old this year and we still have much to learn.
I was struck by the great hospitality they people showed to these young men.
...and so, I recommend this book to those who are curious about Asia and the Middle East.
