My main grip is that essentially, Black Rapid are charging a lot for something that they've had to introduce in order to correct a design flaw in the strap in the first place , which will already have cost you fifty quid or more. And there are plenty copies for a fraction of that price which look pretty damn good.
If you want us to buy from and support the original designers and manufacturers of these sort of things, and not encourage copies from the far east, then the western manufacturers themselves need to set their pricing points lower and principles higher.
But if you want one in a hurry you might want to consider a different supplier than Uk Trading (hence only 4 stars)
I ordered two of these at the same time on Amazon Prime (next day delivery) - had two separate emails three hours apart from the supplier saying they were going to deliver on time, but for some reason only delivered one on time and one turned up the following day.
Whilst this might be partially the courier's fault, you've got to wonder why the supplier shipped two of these teeny little things separately and so far apart.
And whilst it was no biggie, since I had one on time, if it had been something more critical, I'd have been quite annoyed to be told it was arriving on one day when it actually came on the next.
However, after upgrading to a 3LeggedThing (Eddie) tripod I found that I needed something with a hoop in it in order to quickly be able to go back and forth between strap and tripod, and that's why I purchased this item.
It fits perfectly with the AirHead 2 release place of the 3LT tripod, and so is always attached to my camera body and the plate, regardless of whether or not I'm using my tripod or my BlackRapid strap.
The build is good, and it feels like a tough piece of metal to hold; and attaching it to the plate can be done with ease as there are no real fiddly bits.
The only reason why I have given this item four stars is simply due to the price. Since taking up photography as a hobby I have come to accept that camera gear is expensive, but for a simple screw for a tripod this item should be cheaper.
In summary, well built and does the job. For the Manfrotto RC2 plate it's built for I found it unnecessary; but for the 3LT it's essential.
