Review

I think the author has a great writing style, and she definitely knows how to capture and keep the reader's attention. She created impressive characters filled with intense emotions and powerful personalities. (The Online Book Club) The author's writing style was absolutely superb. I was enchanted right from the beginning. I (Stacey Kym - Twin Reads)

The book reminds me of cronus ( the movie) the idea behind the book is not bad, and I liked the style of proper language, quite refreshing.

I missed a better development of the characters more insight. As well didn't like it that somehow mum and dad didn't had a care when Melissa had this accident......I guess there was something missing I had it a lot that somehow jumped into the next chapter not where it left of.
As well at chapter 40 I read the same twice? And then the book ended.... I read some reviews for the second and don't think I will follow up, not with the price. So not for me, sorry!

Young, idealistic debutante Melissa risks her reputation when she starts falling for the enigmatic and licentious Justin Lestrade. Melissa seeks an escape from the suffocating restrictions placed on her by a patriarchal upper-class culture; Justin's dark secret is known only to a tiny clique, the members of which have their own less-than-pure motivations. It's only a matter of time before Melissa gets caught up in them.

Although the first few chapters feel slightly stilted, from then on it is immersive and compelling reading. The story flows along nicely, providing well-paced drama and suspense. The troubled romance between Melissa and Justin is complemented by each other's personal development, as they try to make their own paths against those who would impose their will on them.

A very easy-to-read novel, with the depth to draw you in and fire the imagination. The cliffhanger ending will leave you eager for a sequel.

I found this to be a very enjoyable read and, while not my usual type, was drawn into the story almost from the get go. The characters are well defined and the plot flows easily from chapter to chapter. I was up until the early hours reading as I needed to know what came next. Without spoilers, the ending is truly memorable.

I can't wait for the next one.
