Product Description

Lead singer of The Walkmen releases debut album ‘Black Hours’ on Ribbon Music.

In its orchestrated rhythms, dynamic vocals and generous production, ‘Black Hours’ speaks from one booming voice. Inaugurating a new chapter in an already remarkable career from The Walkmen frontman, the album brings Leithauser full circle and then some, from lonely midwinter piano-and-vocals sessions to a loud, live rock ‘n’ roll group and back again.

Performers on the album include Rostam Batmanglij (Vampire Weekend), Paul Maroon (The Walkmen), Morgan Henderson (Fleet Foxes), Richard Swift (The Shins / solo), Amber Coffman (Dirty Projectors).

Well, I'm a big Walkmen fan. All I can say is that this album hits all the spots that the previous albums have too - dynamic, melodic, intelligent. Perfect music from Leithauser - he has to have one of the best voices around.
Superb - as I said, if you like the Walkmen this will appeal in exactly the same way.

Great first solo album from Hamilton following the temporary hiatus of the Walkmen. Real mix of influences on this album a bit of 50's crooner and the indie sound of previous Walkmen albums. He has had a few musicians from other bands Fleet Foxes/Vampire Weekend play on this and they have influenced the sound - i love Silent Orchestra, St Marys County, 11 oclock Friday Night, Self pity and I retired. In my top 5 albums of 2014. Saw him recently on tour and the vocal power of Hamilton live is amazing -wish him and the band every success they deserve it.

Like a lot of music on amazon not sure how I found this album, but I'm really glad I did. Lifted a few songs straight on to my playlist it sits nicely in a row with Townes Van Zandt,Leonard Cohen, John Martyn, Dylan, Cash, Waits, Walker... I know nothing about the Hamilton Leithhauser but do you really need to know anything about an artist if the music is this good. So if you're looking for something full of tracks that should be on your playlist for a long time then happy to recommend.
